Lighting / Dual Spectrum Lamps

Anyone using the BAY6 600 Watt dimmable digital lighting system? If so, is it any good?

Thinking of using it with a 600 Watt BAY6 Dual Spectrum Lamp.
How do Dual lamps compare with separate veg / flowering lamps?

Soz for all the Q‘s; been growing outdoors til now, so not sure about the correct lighting for indoors...

Sorry I don't have any experience with that product but I went and read what little I could find on google and figured I would share some thoughts.

I can't find a spectrum distribution chart for the "dual spectrum" bulb. Honestly the jibber jabber I see just talks about red and blue being present in the spectrum, but all HPS lights have both, just more red than blue. So I don't know what they mean by dual spectrum, it's not like flipping a switch on the ballast makes for a different spectrum.

I would stick with a good digital MH/HPS ballast and a good MH bulb for veg and a good HPS bulb for flower. Actually I would go with a CMH as thats taking over now. The CMH light runs cooler, covers a little more area for the same wattage and provides a fantastic spectrum most like the sun, even has the UV for extra resin production. With CMH you can run about 35 watts per sqft instead of 50 while maintaining the same yield potential. With my 1000 watt HPS a good area coverage is 16 sqft (4x4) with my 1000 watt CMH a good coverage area is 5.5 x 5.5 feet or about 30 sqft. Thus a 600 watt CMH can do a 4x4 area really well, so you are using 40% less power while also creating way less heat.

Jeez, thanks for that! I thought the whole dual spectrum thing sounded a bit wishy washy!
Man, there is so much more to consider when growing indoors!
Being an outdoor Farmer, all you have to consider is some decent soil and lots of sunshine!

Seriously though, thanks a thousand times for ur advice; when u look into it online, there is so much conflicting information and of course, each website claims their system is the best.

Soz, didn’t mean to waffle on, thanks again and have a good wknd! It’s time to blaze my crop!
:peace:

So you are still using the Nanolux 1000W DE CMH?

How would you rate the performance of that lamp vs a Single Ended HPS like a Super HPS Hortilux?
Well you can cover more area with 1000w and make less heat, plants seem to love it. That said I am using a 3k bulb in veg, should use a 4k. I don't have the ceiling height to use the 1kW in flower but I think I could with a 600. Just haven't gotten that far yet with my new toys. Playing with the new CMH and LED techs is very encouraging though. I really noticed the heat difference, plants aren't drinking as much.

Cheers for the advice; will definitely go with different set of lights.
What do u use?

i dont grow, but i know lights well. Almost all the HPS has same spectrum, or just very little different. Pick the brand with good reputation and you will set.
eye hortilux has ceramic hps with different spectrum, but not sure it can totally beat normal hps.

CMH is good tho, if you dont know which brand to choose, go for Philips.

Welcome to ask me if you have any other HID questions.8-)

Cheers for the advice, and thank you for your offer!
I will do a bit more research before committing to a particular lighting system; if I have any more Q’s I get back to u (most likely I will do, as up to now I only needed the sun’s rays to grow).

Have a good One!

That's funny you said the MH/HPS won't last long. I only use those during veg. I switch to 1000 watt HPS by Hortilux.
