Lighting Question

Hi All,

New here. Thank you all for your help and support! My question is I have a 2x4x5 grow tent and purchased 2 of these 600w Niello lights. I'm planning on 2 autoflower plants. Should I use one or both lights?

Thanks for your help!

Thank you both! Yeah my budget and knowledge hasn't been helping me out lol. Would you recommend something else for my size tent that is under $200, no diy electrical skills needed, and stays cool in my small tent?

I would say just use what you have for now while you learn the rest, but if you have concerns of heat youll want some good LEDs in the long run.
Save up a little bit bigger budget over this grow and go with some HLG stuff. If you want to stay lowest budget possible with good LED, I would buy a few of their v1 boards while they are still in stock.
Its barely electrical work and there are step by step guides on how to hook everything up. Quality LED on a budget = DIY. If you dont build it, you pay nearly 3-4x as much for the same thing.

Ok that makes sense to use these first for a bit until I get my feet wet. I'm really only growing for myself due to medical reasons. My tolerance has gotten bigger than my wallet! 2 dried ounces doesn't seem like much. Ok, these will buy me some time to get more knowledge on your lighting suggestions. I'm all about diy'ing and saving money for sure! As long as I don't need electrical skills than I will definitely go that route. Thanks so much to you both!

One more quick question. When I'm ready to upgrade to the HLG's you suggested, should I get one of each (3000k/5000k) or will one of those Kelvins with this light get me through germination to flower?

Thanks to all!!

Hey all,

Well I kind of took your advice and didn't...I found a promo code and ordered 2 of the 3000k 135w quantum lights since they ended up only being a total $70 more than I paid for the ones I ordered. I'll return them since they are unopened and still within the return window. I just figured why not return these while I still can and start right (with a little help from some friends:) Thanks again for your recommendation!

Next, should I do the same with these? Start off with one at 18-20" and then introduce the second? Or use the dimmers?

Thanks again!!

Start with one 24" above your plants and see how they react. If they seem to be stretching move the light to 18-20". Introduce the second light when your plants start to fill out more about 1-2 weeks from breaking soil. The end result will be each plant with its own light source and you should be plenty happy with the outcome

When they look similar to this add your other light. I didn't have enough soil to fill my pots but you definitely should be filling them20200207_210524.jpg

Awesome!! Thanks so much. Nice grow btw! Can't wait to get started. I ordered from Seedsman but it's been almost 3 weeks and they still aren't here. Getting antsy! Thanks so much for your help and advice Nick.
