my 600 watt hps bulb went out and i have an extra 400 watt bulb bulb...can i use a 400 watt bulb in 600 watt balast?

Yes, you can also go buy a gallon of gasoline and pour it all around your house and then ignite it.

Should you? Hell no.

no way, no ballast is supposed to be able to do that safely, major risk....no reward

Nope......that's the 1st rule when to comes to ballasts only use the same wattage that your bulb uses....

yeah but it's a major safety issue...I mean I would rather be busted by the cops than have my house burn down because a) your still gonna get busted by the cops when they determine what caused the fire and b) you just lost e verything you had over what $60-70 dollars
