This is perfectly fine for space. Heat is the big problem. Depending where you live, the temps may limit the time of year you can grow.

Dittos and you best plan on using CFL's for both stages of growth. Afraid a 4 foot height limit and HPS would not play together well.

It's not that you can't use a HPS in that space, but it will need a good sized fan to cool it. My attic is 10' long by 5' wide (usable space) with a peak of 5' and I have a 600w HPS in one half, 250w MH in the other. It has a 240cfm fan on a thermostat, which has to run pretty much constantly while the HPS is on to keep it below 27C in summer, and it doesn't get too hot over here, 25C or so.
It's perfectly workable, as long as you plan for it and it might be a bit cramped working in there, especially when you fill it with plants!

You might not be able to hang a reflector with your lights.

ok, well i gave up on the attic, i'm a big guy and the tight space just wasn't workin for me, so i converted an old entertainment center into a grow box, now my new problem is that i'm not running a hydro system, i'm just gonna use good ol' fashion dirt and water, i don't hear of too many ppl doin this i know its possible but why don't as many ppl do it this way?

i'm a dirt grower, never really tempted by hydro, though i see it's appeal
some problems in dirt go away in hydro, on the other hand, you get some new problems in hydro
i think hydro has the rep for big yields, i think that is one of its bigger pluses

a lot of people use dirt and if its your first time id recommend dirt just cause its not as much know how needed to maintain them

Dirt's easier to grow with, it's more forgiving. Hydro can give greater yields (however see https://www.rollitup.org/outdoor-growing/24703-its-all-bullsh-t.html), if done right, but a small mistake can fuck your grow right up.
It also requires more equipment for monitoring the ppms of your res, pumps and so on.
Soil is pretty basic, you plant a seed, water it, it grows. You feed it, it grows bigger. Alter the light cycle, it grows buds. Give it more phosphorous, buds grow bigger. The hardest part is being patient and curing it properly imo.
