Up until a year and a half ago I was a soil guy too, and as I started to read about hydro I came to realize there was a crap load of different systems out there but not a comprehensive guide to all. I basically decided on what I thought would be the easiest for me to start with and good results. Then I researched and built a system and have tweaked it over time. If I were to do it again I would do the same thing. Pick the simplest system that suits your needs to start would be my advice. Get the concepts down and if you want, expand and refine later. I use a flood and drain system that just uses water pump and timer, a lower res and upper tray. I have tweaked it so that is a recirculating system (water flows continuously). Good luck and trust me if you keep it simple at first you'll never look back lol.

I've been doing soil indoor and outdoor for about 10 years now, always happy with my outcome. Traveled around a bit and started really pushing for other ways of growing. I made my own hydroponic kit from various sources. The main parts I got from Rowe Organics like there EZ Ebb controller and net pots other than that I called and talked to a guy name Nicholas and he gave me all the info I needed to go down to our local hardware store to make the rest of the system. Its been 2 years now and lets just say im getting way more for my buck, don't get me wrong I love soil but Im using somewhat of a soilless product from Rowe Organics and its like growing out of soil, similar results anyway. Ive tried some other stuff from a few of my buddies like coco and glass cubes , didn't really like it compared to Rowe Organics Soilless. Hope this helps . Peace & Happiness -DIRTGUY
