I just read through this thread and the only person that has come across as a total dick is you(foreverflyhi), Like Cann says there is some real good info over on grasscity and some real nice people willing to show you cool ways to make your own soils from scratch help with organic amendments and recycling soils everything you need to know is only a google search away and there is a lot better people to learn from that the rev.. Teaming with microbes is an amazing book, Microbeman over on grasscity is full of usefull info on compost teas, vermicomposting too. lumperdawgs, Jerry, Inthegarden too many to list also in ICMag clackamuscootz and gascanastan lots of others are really nice people and will happily answer questions and point you in the right direction and wont start calling you names and over react when you try and give good advice back.... just my 2 pence

Thanks for the welcome mate, I've been growing about 5 yrs been reading heavily on organics the last couple months and am waiting for my compost pile to be ready and I'l be off.. My worm farms starting to mke a decent amount of castings too... i'm going to make my own soil instead of buying store bought at least I will know whats in mine, and the homemade worm casting should be the bollocks! I'm on a few other forums but thought I would post abit on here too and learn some more and share what I have already picked up along the way.. Hope you all have a good evening

w89 - the fact that you were able to generate that list of names tells me you have done your research and you know a good amount about organics....the fact that you know about microbeman, eco12, lumper, jerry, inthedirt, clackamascoot, gascanastan, etc. puts you above and beyond 99.9% of people on RIU. Congrats

I'd agree that foreverflyhi comes off as a dick but we like to have devils advocates lurkin around these forums - keeps us grounded and gives us something to do lol. I've been thinking about starting a thread that is dedicated to lumper et al - just basically a reposting of all the great info that is out there on other websites that many RIU members never see. Would you be down to c/p some of the stuff you have from these guys? (I'm assuming you have some threads bookmarked like I do lol) I feel like a lot of RIU members could benefit from reading what these great minds have to say....

Firstly I Have been growing weed for 5 years all hydroponics and being the perfectionist I am I've just never been happy with my results, don't get me wrong it's been "good weed" and very good yields but no-one I sell too tell me its "amazing" I didn't know why.
I was looking online to try help myself figure out why... I then come across the organic section on GC and started reading up, this was about 2 or 3 months ago now and I've literally had to start again from scratch re learning everything I've learnt in the past using an inert medium and chem nutes force feeding my babies....
I've never grown in soil let alone organic soil but it really intrigues me this style of growing is so complex but simple at the same time, learning all about the soil microbes and fungi and organic growing is basically growing a soil and that will grow your plant instead of trying to force feed my plants copious amounts of different additives and shit... there is so much to learn and I read constantly about organics now, I even want to get an allotment and grow organic veggies ect cant wait...
I started my compost pile and worm farm and will be starting my first organic grow once the pile is done in a couple months... I want my organic experience to be the best it can bee so that's why I'm taking my time and doing it properly.. I think your Idea of a thread filled with all sorts of info gathered from GC and ICMag or just Lumperdawgs Is a great idea.. and I would love to add some info I've gathered over the last few months and help people even more over on RIU!

Yeah that would be the point of the tribute thread - just c/p the most informative, concise text we can find on any relevant subject, and try to keep it at that. Minimal side conversation and RIU B.S. , just straight information. Currently I am saving up a word document with all the gems, and I once I feel I have enough to get it started I will do a massive c/p and call it a thread lol. Stay tuned...it's not too far away hopefully

I agree that Earth Tonic is a good product, although it is very expensive. The magic is the biodynamic preps in addition to the natural ocean and terrestrial salts giving 70+ trace and micronutrients. Biodynamic farming is a pre-modern science, sustainability and holistic method from before the synthetic "green" revolution changed agriculture forever. It was created by an Austrian Dr. Rudolf Steiner and is a wholly different and living organic way to view agriculture and farm production systems. Interestingly, he was not a farmer by trade. Honestly, when I read his The Agriculture Course (the english translation of his eight seminal lectures) it made my head physically hurt because I was thinking about something I thought I knew well from such a different viewpoint than my own.
The biodynamic preps are detailed in this and other works. Most of them are very powerful helper plants which are used in fpe's and similar ways and energized with natural energy and life by actually being buried in the earth and created in other specific and energizing ways. This old tech may be more valuable than modern people currently realize and it is exciting that it is being reinvestigated as people are coming to grips with the negative consequences of large scale petrochemical based industrial ag. It is used in wine and other industries and held up by some as an 'utmost' organic method in these fields. Check it out

Just wanted to say hi. I"m an organic "living soil" grower. Still working to get the soil improved, but aerated manure tea & fermented plant extracts put in what I don't. Just started an indoor compost bin and am now loving the winter, as its summer in my indoor garden. Also have my first lacto-B started. It's not had the milk yet, just waiting for more lumps in the rice water.

Hands down favorite book on the subject. Teaming is great but tlo rocks. Planning to create my own castings, compost and recycle my soil by summer. I really like the info on spikes. The first thing i plan to do is recreate a homemade version of the extreme tea I use. Glad this thread is here.

Cann, I have the exact same bottle of aloe juice in the fridge, I bought for me to drink it and I never really used it. Is it good for a long time after opening? and how should I use this into my garden!?
I activated my first batch of EM this morning, I made 2 x 1 litre bottles. In each bottle I used 50ml of mother culture, 40 ml of black-strap molasses, about 40 ml fish hydrosalate and half a teaspoon of humic acid. The rest was plain water from the tap that has sat 24 hours. It has to sit for about 20-30 days and voila, you have activated effective micro-organisms.
Further testing is needed, but I found that when I used the right ingredients for my compost teas AND EM (effective micro-organisms), my tea gets a thick foam within 12 hours. Anyway, I want to experiment on a few plants using no teas, no molasses, only tiny amount (like 1/4 teaspoon...) of EM every watering and see how that goes. Hopefully I can do it with 2 plants of the same strain side by side.
