Long time toker but first real medical extraction, need some help please

I am an experienced grower and need to make my first real medical concentrate for myself. I have high quality bud I grew, flushed, dried and cured, its ready to go in, supply is not a problem. My husband has a distillation system and we have a large supply of everclear 190. I don’t want to overshare medical shit no one wants to hear but I am dying of gastroparesis, I’m starving to death literally I’m trying desperately not to fall back under 90lbs at 5’8. I have Dysautonomia and POTS, neurological central nervous system disorders. I’ve exhausted my medical options and have had terrible reactions to every single medication they have given me. I need an easier extraction method that does NOT use any chemicals and I need a clean product void of chlorophyll and other plant material that could possible cause even the slightest GI upset. At first hubby was looking at some vacuum type closed systems that would recapture the alcohol but pretty much every brand is about $600 and get awful reviews as in doesn’t work, so loud, doesn’t extract cleanly, takes days to do whatever extraction it does, it leaks on and on. And I don’t understand how that would remove anymore of the plant material? I’m in doubled over pain 24/7 and can’t eat or sleep and won’t see Fall if something doesn’t change. I’m entirely too sick to sit and read through the hundreds of pages on extracts here. I’m so sick I have the cognitive function of a mushroom and not the fun kind lol. Hubby’s dad just had a stroke, workes full time, I can’t even leave the house to shop or cook So he is running on fumes stressing over his dad and trying to keep me alive. He is a very smart cookie, has a SHOP full of “man crap lol” and can rig up about anything given the right directions. If this extraction helps and I am able to eat again, it will need to be an on going thing. We are not opposed to investing some money if there is some sort of quality product to help us in our extraction. Are their any products out there for the home user that are worth the money?

Ok so another question I have. I used to have tolerance like a MF however since this hit, my tolerance is hit or miss. I have actually gone months at a time over the last 14 months not smoking at all because it make my Dysautonomia symptoms worse and makes me feel more sick BOO. I grew out a strain from Attitude called deep candy it claims its something like 13%CBD and very little thc. When I smoke it, I feel a bit off but not high but it does help stimulate my appetite and does make me a little sleepy, nothing earth shattering but helps. Since I’m questioning my tolerance with the extraction, does it work to add different strains to it? Like I don’t know how many oz’s we are talking about using, probably would want to make a bit of a smaller batch first before going all in. But say if we use a quarter pound in the extraction, does it translate to better medicine and maybe a gentler high if I use 1-1.5oz of the high CBD strain and the rest full on top shelf indica, does mixing the strains like that make a blend or just a dirty buzz?

One last question, yes I’ve seen the rick simpson video, again I don’t want chemicals and don’t want all that black plant material as I can quarentee you it will mess up my belly more. So how do we do this extraction at home and not end up with nothing but black plant matter in a syringe? I make infused cooking oil for mediables for my patients, its very strong. Made the usual decarb, crockpot, and run it through a juicer to remove all the plant material. My patients tell me they can’t buy mediables as strong as mine in the dispensary. I can’t eat them. How will the concentrate be different from my cooking oil?

When our legal law passed here in 09, we formed a compassion club with a few others and for 7 years travelled to libraries and senior centers and VFW halls to teach about medical marijuana. I am pretty well educated except when it comes to these extractions. I’m not looking to be fubar stoned 24/7 although I understand that might happen and is better than death lol. I’m not looking for dabs or concentrates. I’m looking for a full spectrum cannabis oil that isn’t black with crap and won’t make me sicker. I’m so super nauseous its hard to get things down so I will probably put a small bit into a capsule to get it down unless someone has a better idea.

Is there someone out there who has time and is willing to help us out here, we are really desperate. Thank you

I can think of two options. First would be to get an at home kitchen counter Rosin Press, or if your husband wants to build one he can save a few bucks. There are many online options to purchase these ready to go. However, most are way overpriced! Dabpress is a company that seems to care in helping people a bit more than making mass $. This will give you a very clean chemical free extract, with the plant material left behind. That's the coolest part about this method besides no soluble, the left over weed chips are still very valuable in edibles for those other patients you spoke of. However, that kinda concerns me of whether or not the rosin is full spectrum. Being that the leftovers are still very medicinally valuable. So since you ain't looking to dab or smoke, it will need to be decarbed. Then you can consume it anyway you want. Most the ladies I know who use it really enjoy it in their hot tea.

The other is the ethanol (everclear) wash that you previously spoke of. However, to get what you're asking for requires a very important step that most people don't know about. Using dry ice you'll need to get your material and ethanol down to -60F before washing. Ethanol doesn't usually pull the plant materials such as fats waxes, and lipids. But as you know it pulls a lot of nasty chlorophyll with a quickness! At this temperature though, it will not.

You're more than welcome to message me with any questions you might have. I've learned everything I know about processing from some of the great people on this forum. So I love to pay it back, or forward whichever. I pray for your better health Sister.

Its so seriously frustrating we have this great medicine and yet the true medical strengths some of us need for life saving measures are beyond us. I’ve been growing since 09, have a loyal following of patients. I texted them all over the winter before I started my grows to confirm everyone’s usage before I tried to grow when I was too weak to even walk down the stairs and passed out most days on the grow room floor from heat and exhaustion. Three patients ghosted me which left me with a LOT of overages. Ok lets try to put those overages to use and maybe even save my life but I can’t afford thousands of dollars of equipment just for me when I will likely be dead before fall. If my patients bought their medicine they ordered than I could afford to just go buy good oil, and people bitch about caregivers. I’m going to die on a mountain of pot, pretty flipping sad. The alarms on my weight app screamed at me today because I dropped below 10% body fat and 13bmi so officially in danger of organs shutting down.

My wife and I — mostly my wife — make a very crude elixir using leafy trim and 100 percent culinary ethanol. She only makes about 10 fluid oz. at a time. About 10 ml is the usual dose.

My wife doesn’t care much about the chlorophyll but when I make infused coconut oil, I like to use an old-fashioned coffee drip coffee maker to wash out the chlorophyll. You just put cannabis in the basket where coffee grounds usually go. I run water through the cannabis trim at least twice. Usually you can tell that the water is not so dark green after the second wash. Then I put the wet stuff on a cookie sheet and decarb it, which will usually dry it out as well.

You probably want a machine or method that can wash your stuff faster than a Mr. Coffee, but in principle the method works, I think. Any chemical that is soluble in water is probably not what you want for medical purposes, anyway. You might be able to get the same results by just boiling your flowers in water and then straining out the water.

There's a lot of information here about making high-quality exxtracts using ethanol. I use these methods for making tincture and concentrate. I use a device called a Source Turbo to recover the alcohol (Everclear). It's a few hundred dollars, but I think it's worth it.

As bez420 mentioned, the secret is keeping things cold. That keeps the chlorophyll out of the end product. It's all explained at the URL below. I've been doing this for a couple of years and can try to answer any questions you have.

What solvents are you wanting to use? Ethanol or isopropyl?
The following link uses isopropyl but there are instructions for ethanol use.

Videos to watch on page.

We use 100 percent ethanol sold as “culinary solvent.” Last time we bought a 5-gallon barrel. It comes with a universal wrench for opening.751497D3-B82F-46F7-97AE-200C1A219117.jpeg

I have not found a better price but I admit I have not looked very hard, either. I consider myself too old to take up moonshining.

Can be pretty tough to get moonshine that strong. I plan on using these guys to buy 100% food grade ethanol in bulk. I haven't gotten a quote yet. But looking over their website, you can see they offer many different types of advanced solvents and such! https://apis-labs.com/

Apis Labs offers ethanol with heptane, which is pretty standard in our industry and would be an excellent choice of vendors if they are close enough that shipping costs aren't an issue. They are the vendor I used with WolfWurx and turned our customers on to.
