Longest you can leave your grow alone

I am curious how long is the most time you have left your indoor garden alone. My circumstances have changed and I am wondering how long it is possible, if set up correctly, can I leave the garden alone. Can I come once a week? Could I stretch it out to 3 times a month?

I am using hydroponics and plan on installing redundant pumps and installing a professional timing system. I am researching ways to automatically adjust ph when it becomes necessary.

Has anyone had any experience, especially long term, on this type of limited on site maintenance. Any help or suggestions would appreciated.kiss-ass

i actually left my grow alone for a full week. I went to mexico for vaca right in the mid of flowering stage. water right b4 i left, came back and still was fine and still was able to finish the grow to the end and the result came out just like any other grow i have done

I usually don't check up on my plants but once a week. Home automation helps alot. Hempy buckets with hydrotron pellets do as well. I wouldn't advise it though.

2 weeks was max so far no probs. But the op is rigged to death and can checked (visually and stats) and adjust from the road.

gotta love automation!

this will do it all if you got the $$$
Growtronix, Greenhouse Controller and Grow Room Computer Automation System

it's costly though. If I had the $$$ I'd go for it without thinking twice. However, BigBudBalls helped me plann out a much cheaper alternative. My home automation set up doesn't have all the perks, bells, and whistles that Growtronix does, but I can control watering, lights, and the like from the road without much of a problem.

Plus your system can go well beyond the just grow room and more towards smart home status.

Man I'm close to a killer hempy bucket for automation (not using hempys for real, just playing with them.) Simple modular design, and easily do-able with 'our' system. (though a little uncertain about the Windows end of things)

I gotta look a bit closer at this growtronix thing. I'd like to know the cost of a full 2 zone system. Lights, water, pH, TDS, CO2, etc. I bet I could still do better with a little time programing on the customer's dime sitting on a plane/airport.

WOW! $700 for CO2 +/- 1 100 ppm and only 0-2500 ?? Kinda limited in range and accuracy, no humidity. Serial port? What computer comes with those these days?? (No Ethernet? or ModBUS on top of Ethernet? Yesterday's Technology Tomorrow! Sounds like a microsoft subsidiary)

A temp/Humidity sensor is cheap. CO2 sensor is the pricey one. Why drop humidity? Thats like dropping the gas tank in favor of power locks on a car!

Damn! My DIY set up is far more tweakable, accurate, greater range, more options, etc. Not overally impressed. (I'm even using a remote touch screen, or can use a cell phone or webrowser or remote client)

Now the logging stuff *is* cool But a little applescript and I'm there. (like 20 minutes and straight into Excel or FileMaker)

Can you tell me some of the equipment you are using especially in terms of the remote touch screen?

That is bad ass!!

I would love to have a set up like that, I am always on the road, and that would be huge peace of mind while away. No down time, yeah baby!!

I am sure for someone who has the knowlege to make a system like that the cost is high as hell. I am going to be shopping around for something similar, I would really love t6o be able to check in on my set up and not have to worry about burning the house down or my plants dying.

I would spend $500 for auto watering and temp/light control with the ability to check in via web cam or something. I am sure there are many similar products available, I will be searching. My curiosity is now in full gear.

Holy crap, I've been out of the technological loop for a while, busy growing big ops, I had no idea you could adjust and check the automatron via remote link.

That's awesome, you could stream video to a remote server and watch from your iPhone, you could wire explosives if there's and intruder, Kablooey :bigjoint:

I looked into the automatron as far as taking care of a large garden, but didn't think it would be a good investment, mainly because I'm not lazy, and able to maintain a garden without extended lapses of negligence.

But, the remote part interests me, you could have 5 gardens in 5 houses and check them all from your phone, it would definately make a huge operation able to get bigger.

Cool idea +rep BigBudBalls!

Did you ever do a DIY post on your setup? I would be curious on it for sure!

Those systems are fuckin wicked man. A package is only like $450, n to get ALL the sensors it would probably cost an additional 200 bucks - that aint too bad to have a fully automated system for your grow. I mean, you would have to pay out some more bills to get everything setup to where you dont even have to touch the grow, but it could work man. +rep just for makin me aware of this thing!!
