Hi there,Can someone possibly point me in the right direction of a good link for specific SOG set up and \"how to\'s\"...I have about a 6\' x 3\' x 6\' area in my basement for my cab.Just want bud in a shorter amount of time or possible a SCROG is better for me? I have tons of CFL\'s and will be getting a 250W hps. Will this be enough and can I flower with the lights I have.I\'ll leave it up to the pros to answer my questionsThanks guys!

WElcome to the forum, eh. Click on FAQ upper left hand corner of this page. You will find Mogie has posted tons of information, with most she includs pictures.

Do you want bud once in a shorter amount of time or a rotating crop, harvesting over and over??

How many is tons. You probably can, yield may not be much. VV

VictorVisous: Looking to go with a small amount yeah..It's only for personal use..You think 12 CFL's and a 250W HPS would do the trick for a decent yield?

Thanks Victor,appreciate ur help

will work but would be a very low grade yield and cost you way more than it needs in the electric bill let's do some math

12 cfl's at ~ 34/42 w is around 2800 lumens for total of 33,600 lumens

250w hps: 28,000 lumens

33,600 + 28,000=61,600

divide that by square footage 61600/18 = 3422 lumens per square foot

that is hovering around the bottom range now also let's look at your electric bill

at the low end 34watts * 12 = 408 could be as high as 42*12= 504
+ 250 from hps
658 and 754 watts

both outcomes will be higher than just purchasing a 600w light that will give you a total of 95,000 lumens/18=5277 lumens per square foot which isn't too bad and much better than 3422

all hps just makes more sense

-now if you wanted to supplement that with reptile lights(UVB light) to cause stress to the plant to induce higher THC contents that is a completely different thing

wow, good answer. Why do you rule out a discussion of the t-5 lighting by not including it in cost comparison? 44,000 lumens right at the top, within 3" of the plants. uses 440 watts. VV

Fair enough but you suggest totally removing the CFL\'s? Also wouldn\'t a 600W HPS be a little over kill for a 2 plant SOG cab?Keep the replies coming

I am a HUGE fan of t5ho. T5ho are an excellent source of lighting imo and actually can be done DIY. This past weekend I dismantled a t5 light fixture to see if there was anything else special other than the ballast- there wasn't really.

I'll make a write up on it how to do DIY t5 lighting when I get some time I am just swamped with several jobs and school right now plus fine tuning my grow room.

That all said...I would probably stick to HPS for flowering and go t5ho for vegging. Another DIY I promised to write up was a cool tube for HPS that can be done for around $30. It will cool even 1000w HPS enough that the tube could TOUCH the plants without harming them. Give me a week to get everything in order and the writeups will come.

Could be overkill with two plants but at two plants you could easily go 2x1x6

rule of thumb in sog is one plant per square foot. With your current setup you have the exact measurements as mine except two feet higher space(I am 6x3x4) you could effectively grow 18 plants. Myself I have opted for a crop rotation system where I have one flowering aeroponic table that I converted from an ebb and flow( really looks cool ) that houses 8 plants could do 9 but I wanted a round number- this is called station 3. (2 weeks)

At station 2 I have 2 18 gallon totes setup in aeroponic systems each housing 4 plants and half of the space. (2 weeks)

At station 1 I again have two 18 gallon totes doing another 4 plants each. This is where my clones go. ( 2 weeks)

As I pull clones from one 18 gallon tote under t5ho housing 8 plants I give them 2x the space in station 1. After that they go to station 2 then station 3. This way every two weeks after the initial harvest I will have another 8 plants to harvest.

Probably the most interesting thing is this is all SOG AND SCROG combined with poultry wire hanging around the 3 foot mark. It is all about efficiency my friend.

Latest thing I am pondering adding is tearing down the mylar and going ADF Mylar in an effort to cover myself from infrared heat detection, even though @ 600w I will most not likely need it between a couple walls in each direction.

count the amps you have on the circuit

Your breaker is probably 15 amps or 20 amps do not exceed 80-90% of that figure. If 15amps I'd stick around 12/13 to be safe.
