Looking into led lights need opinions please

I was looking at the leds online currently using 1000watt HID goin to start growing in my closet for more descrete operation but found a million different brands all saying the same thing obviously i want to hear it from the good folks on here who use led. Im leaning towards the led because i want the same quality of a HID and not the heat buildup. Is the heat significantly lower than HID? What is the major reasons you fellas use them? Im wanting a quality light i know led are not cheap but looking to not spend more than a 1000 but just want any advice no matter the price. My closet is about 6'L x 2'W would like to grow about four or five plants at a time at least a couple foot high so i was thinking something equivalent to a 600 watt maybe. Im expecting alot out of this light heat is the major issue right now i could run a couple of HID with really good ventilation for less but i hear good things about yeild and growth with these lights so just need reassured this light is goin to be what im looking for just scared to spend this much and not be happy. Interested in what you guys would recommend or what you would buy yourselves if you had to do it over thanks in advance! :eyesmoke:

Astir is not the right concept here...

lets say 1000W is equal 600W Led

one Astir_panel is 20W
weight over 2 KG (5 pounds) !Heatsink!

600W/20W= 30 Panels... !!! 150 pounds! ... and not to speak over chains, Drivers and wireing

and check the aera you need to place them all.

The heat is alot more managable then HID. Pro 7 UFO is what i use. I dont have the link but i have it on a couple other threads showing the difference. Its all about preference tho.

Thanks for the advice fellas what watt do you use 2face904? what do you thank the coverage would be with one of those just thinking how many i would have to buy but they look simple enough thanks man ! My goal here is to build a great updated, self efficient grow room that i can count on being as close to perfect as one can get. Right now i wake up at six every morning to turn on fans and move ducting and turn them off at six at night so not real convenient. I want total controll of my room and not worry about it so much.

Did I miss the height of your room somewhere? That plays a role in it for my mindset. But there are always
techniques around height constraints. Let's say I had a grand to drop on a 6x2, I hear area51 are real good,
but I have never personally used them. I use Kessil, Blackstar and Haight Solid State. If I had something to
do over again, it would be to not buy the HSS. While it serves its purpose, it could be done so much better
with another light. Especially the price I paid for it then. I would turn to Kessil. You could get 4 H350's and
grow 4 whoppers in that space under a scrog. The drawback with Kessil is coverage and direction. If you
could imagine a spray bottle from a full mist to jet; Kessil would be the jet. It shoots straight down onto
the plant. Their technology is very good, but you need a lot of them to do the damn thing. So far I have
had good luck using the Blackstar 240. Currently only 1 veg cycle and in flowering now. But I love the rate
of growth and internode spacing of them so far. From what I was used to with the HSSPPF-800 it is leaps
and bounds. Then you could always get a new 270w BlackStar Chrome and a couple Kessil H350's. That
could be a nice setup.

The reason I use LED's is because of space and heating issues. I can only use the small space I have, so
it has to do for right now, ya dig? I have only used CFL's and LED's, so I have no knowledge on how any
other lighting compares to this. I am only giving you my opinion, so use it well :D

Well im a believer man thanks for the info im goin to run led for sure when i get it all setup ill throw some pics up but thanks for the advice man :blsmoke:

Hey! The best advice is to check out some grows in this section! i can only recommend vipar as thats what i use(a lot of other badass growers are rocking area 51 and fero as well.). feel free to check out my journals and see for yourself. only problem though is for about 600w i think you might be spending a little more than 1000$ but remember, going the cheap route on leds will be the biggest mistake!

Hey thanks for the reply man my closet is about 8' tall i think will work out real nice for heat got alot of height to rise up away from my plants and be sucked away so i think that and the led setup it will make things alot easier to control temp really well i think im on the right track with wanting to go with the led they sound like they will live up to my expectations and fit my growing needs. I was checkin out the blackstar chrome and the Kessil H350 im really liking your idea on one blackstar and a couple kessil thinks that would be a sweet setup myself super helpful guys always appreciated :)!

Yea ik im gettin that now as i really look through them lol. But thats good though this thread has been super helpful thus far in suggestions i know i can trust fellow growers i reckon ill end up buyin different brands all the time but sometimes surfin for these products its really hard to know the quality lights from the shitty lights so this does really narrow my search down.

Like Dolamic, I use Kessil H350s...and I have a spectral spinner (light mover that turns 360). I have been having a wonderful grow with them so far...about 2 - 3 weeks 'til harvest and the buds look and smell wonderfully. One of the main colas even has a small hash tip. I have fluorescent lighting as well and have used it as sidelighting which may account for why I'm having such a great grow but whatever works is good with me. :) I have some parts in hand and some parts on the way for two different diy LED projects - one project is to replace the fluorescent lights with a couple of lengths of XML Cree white light and the other is to fill the last two spots on the spectral spinner which I will use to customize the spectrum for the time of the grow - one royal blue and one white during early veg, two whites during later veg, one white and one deep red for early flower and two deep reds for later flower. So I'm making four small fixtures and will use them two at a time.
As far as heat issues, you shouldn't have any with LED lights unless it's adding heat into the room. I've had to add a heater on thermostat into my grow room since I went LED. I'm sure this coming summer grow will be great.
Whatever brand you end up with, look at multiple small ones. Get away from the one large point source of light idea and go for overlapping sources...and maybe a mover/spinner too. Growershouse.com has some good prices on decent brands of LEDs (no affiliation in any way, just a happy customer).

And they have the best deals on LED's I've seen. Kessil H150's $97. That's crazy!
I'm no salesman either, but I guess I should be. :D

Have you tried the H350 Deep Purples for growing? I have 2 and haven't seen them grow shit. They just sit there and collect dust while the T5's grow like mad. Anyone have any real results with the Deep Purples yet? Waste of money so far. Would like to use them if possible. Not sure why they have a 410nm peak in them, seems pointless anyway.

What's the distance from your Kessil to the canopy please? I did learn 410nm restrains grow and destroy the tissues and cells of the plants. So, I don't think the 410nm or UV will help plant grow. Probably it is good for flowering...not sure.
