Looking to buy marshydro LEDs ?help

I was looking to buy marshydro 300 watt LEDs I run a t5 hydrofarm but trying to keep electric bill as low as possible to but still need something that works good help me out thanks I. On my 4 grow now n see a lot have good success with leds thanks for any info

I'd go with 250 HPS then...

Fair warning, the small marshydro seems to use 5w leds, I would suggest looking at 3w x 100 instead. Here's a cheapie on ebay for about $75

Just remember - with LED, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, depending on the company, not even that. What kind of space are you trying to fill?

I'm not an HPS supporter, generally, but I would suggest going HPS over economy LED.

I got a hps 400watt but its crazy on electric I'm using a hydrofarm t5 4ft 6 bulb but I want to put the LEDs in my 4ftx4ft x7 ft tent

Mars is less efficient than HPS so it will only save you money because you're using less light. If you want to "upgrade" from HPS buy something using Bridgelux Vero or Cree CXB... or build your own.

Your t5 will be better. How tall are you growing? T5 is best for shorter, 4' spaces. CMH for taller 7'. If you want to do LED you'll pay some serious money per sq. ft coverage to beat those two options. Area51 is the type of LED you should be looking at. Or, for a short space, Cree lightbulbs and PAR 38 spots/floods.

What's the budget for this 4 x 4 x 7 currently running a 400w hps or t5..

I have the (old) Mars 300w 60x5w and I think it's a great light, my plants seem to love it and the price can't be beat" literally" I'm considering two more for a 2x4 tent. Don't listen to the nay Sayers, watch a few grows on YouTube and see for yourself. I was considering the populargrow 100x3 but went with the marshydro and I don't regret it.

I encourage the OP to pay attention to the w/sq ft being used. Frequently the "awesome" results are obtained with 50-60w/sq ft. That's when T5HO makes more sense. Same results, same heat, fewer watts, and a lifetime investment (just replace the tubes), not a throwaway fixture.

They work reasonably well in short (4' tall) spaces, 2.5' tall plants. Especially if you sidelight. But, you're still looking at 40w/sq ft (which is T5HO's optimal power).

What space do you have your 300w in? (It uses 150w actual?).

It is a question of efficiency....mars panel can grow weed of course but how many gpw???
With cxb or even Vero29 (25 $) you can have a great light at a decent price!
And if you don't want to diy and still want to produce more than gpw you have 4 or more company here who sell great cxb/vero lights at good price!
I have 4 x cxb 3590 3500k 36v cd @1400mA on an hlg - 185 - 1400b so 4×55w under a 3.5x3.5 I will add more but it do the job...!
It cost 350 $ for 220w (real watt!)(548w each 137w)
Read a bit about cxa/b and vero and you will understand!

With my 220w I can make 280/300gr...how much with your mars...I talk about 1.3/1.5gpw in soil!
There's tons of grow log here with those and proven results...find a member who is not happy with his cxa/b vero...!!!

Do you have a link for that? I'm not aware of any MarsHydro 300w running at 280w. Did you mean 180?

I don't know, it's not a lot of money to lose if someone wants to buy something on speculation like that. Sometimes people have to learn the hard way (first-hand). I did that with Blackstar and an Apollo 4-spot. I grew weed, I was happy. But, they're not much more efficient than CFL. You gotta run 45-55w/sq ft to get decent buds.

In a 4' tall space, they're good. Maybe 40w/sq ft. But, at that point T5HO is more of a permanent investment. (And, you have to be careful which LED you buy for such a short space. Only my Blackstar 135 (85 actual) works well. The others with reflectors or 5w diodes require too much distance for that space. The UFO is 3w on white backboard. The plants can get 2" from it (like a T5HO).

I would advise against it. I advise paying attention to the watts used per square foot in the "wow" videos. And, stick with 3w on white backboard in a short space (which I think rules out MarsHydro since they discontinued their MarsI "old model").

$120 isn't a lot to lose if someone really must find out for themselves. I know we can sound religious nuts in our negativity. Some people are naturally inclined to believe it's better than we say. They could do worse (the rebranded epi-whatever lights sold at a premium. Kind, Lush, HydroGrowLED, BlackDog, GrowBlu.). That's when it hurts.

I say t5 will beat mars.

Stick with the t5. And look. Watts are watts. A 400 hps is only a few bucks more a month at most.

Stay with the t5. Check out @RM3 stuff. Invest in some better bulbs.

If going with led go with area 51 or some of the cob lights being advertised here. Turn off add block while on roll it up.

The time is here. There will be enough companies building cob units the price will come down.

I went ahead and got a mars 300. The only way to really know is to just try a run myself. It's a small investment and no big deal for me if it doesn't work out.

I am using it in a growlab60 (2x2x5), and only on 1 plant. Currently 2 weeks into flower. The grow isn't finished yet of course, but my experience thus far with the light has been very good. My girl is a monster and has loved the light.

Anything will veg a plant. Where the epi-whatever lights fall short is in flower. You're doing 150w(?) actual in 4 sq ft. That's 37w/sq ft.

That's what I always think needs to be emphasized because MarsHydro's specs claim 37w/sq ft. That's when people get airy buds, and form a negative opinion of LED generally. When it's stepped up to 50, it may produce dense nuggets. But, so will T5HO at 45.

That's what many of us try to untangle from the "$120" come ons. As long as someone knows what they're getting into (and how the "great results" videos are probably running much more watts), it's not an expensive experience to buy. Especially when someone's starting to grow. Smoking bud you grew yourself is fantastic even if it's airy.

Add some sidelight to get up to 45 (with relatively efficient LED and you'll see a big difference).

I might end up just throwing a 2nd mars 300 in there. It's not a very big unit and I can easily run 2 in this tent. Heat is a non factor with these lights that's for sure.
