Looking to try led

Hey guys I've been looking into some different led fixtures and I think I'm ready to invest in one and see how it goes. It they produce like they say I'd like to convert over fully to led. The fixtures I've been looking at are the hlg 550 and plc 6.2. I also seen the timber leds which didn't look bad. Does anyone have any recommendations on these lights and how they actually compare to a 1000 watt hps.

I have timber grow lights in my tent.
Awesome stuff with great customer service.

Plants are loving it too.

As for comparing to hps.
I have 550watts (true watts) of COBs. They out grow my 800watts hps hands down.

I pull around 1lb out of my 3x3 with 2 plants with my leds.

A 315 CMH would run a 3x3 really good.

At 61 watts per sqft your LED better be kicking some ass. lol

Timber's Redwood would be a great option.

What area are you growing in?
Tent, go LED
For a room with area and doing it cheap, HPS.

I have used a diy Cree CXB 3590 B panel in the past and liked the results, 1g/watt is doable in organic soil. Liked their heat output as well.Supposedly the new Samsung chips are the shit producing really minimal amounts of heat. Going to find out soon :). Citizen chips are affordable and can also offer good results.

Vertical HPS :P

Just ordered 2 HLG 320 XL QB V2 kits, hopefully run a 4ftx8ft tent on 4 of them down the track. The HLG stuff looks pretty damn good, especially the simple DIY kits.

I have 8x atreum 288.2 boards that I am building lights with that are like the HLG QB kits... 1200w of lighting for under $1k. I looked at Timber too but DIY was much cheaper. If I was rich I'd go with Timbers for sure.

I've been thinking about making the switch for a few years now, but havn't really been excited about any of the options I've seen for the price. This light has me kinda excited https://www.ledgrowlightsdepot.com/products/amare-solarbar-sb-800 They apparently offer it to RIU members for about $1200 with the discount. https://www.rollitup.org/t/amare-solarbar-8.983189/

I love the coverage it offers, instead of the smaller board designs. The HLG lights aren't physically very big, so while they put out lots of awesome light, they still are basically a central light source like an HID in my eyes. The bar design the Amare or the Fluence lights offer spreads those photons to every corner of the canopy. Thats what will beat my HPS in my eyes, more or equal light with better spread. Then if it happens to cost less electricity that's awesome too :).

Thats just my 2 cents as a guy that hasn't ever grown with an LED, but has been reading about them for 10 years :).
