Low male/femle ratio!!??

This might sound like bullshit to some, but, i just finished weeding out the males from my first crop and somehow I've only gotten ONE male to my ten (10) females!?? I did NOT buy feminixed seeds. I just planted some seeds from some great smoke I got once and amazingly only one male after two weeks of 12/12. I don't know anything about growing weed so if anyone with experience has any ideas as to how this might have come about feel free to comment. I totally didn't expect to have this many females. Is this just luck?
