I saw a thread on the uvb and the guy had pics of with and with out the bulbs. With them the buds were much frostier. This is a good thread and short. I couldn't find the ones with the pics. But some good info on this one.

Good info there hash, im thinking about getting one more uvb light...i wonder if they do sell the ones we need at petco??

1982 what kind of t5 lights do you have?? I was just at homedepot, bought 2, of the 2fters, 2 bulbs each, 14watts per bulb. 24 bucks the bulbs were included....i can fit 4 of these on the top of my vegg box.,.. woluld 8 bulbs @ 14 watts a piece be enough to vegg and keep a mother going? Or will just 2 be enough?

Hopefully you will still get some decent smoke out of the lowryders....both my white widow seeds and G13 pure power hatched today!!!! They are going in rockwool tomorrow....I cant fckin wait!!! Getting some kind of northern light x skunk seeds too.....:peace:

oh yah. thqat will easily keep a mother plant. plus you dont want it to grow like crazy. just enough that after your plants are done you can take what you need. i put to much power on mine and was trimming it every week in to the garbage. i have sunblaster t5hos. 54 watts each and i have 8 plus some accent t8s. regular t5s are actually more efficient per watt than t5hos but not as much penetration. but more lumens per watt. you'll be fine. the smake on the lowryders looks crystally for sure. just small buds. they are coming around though. might get 2 ounces. whatever. lol. i cant wait to see those white widow. should look really frosty. watch the youtube video from the seedbank on how to grow white widow. its a good vid. tells you exactly how to get perfect results.

hey all, the subject of lights is interesting. my new hps/mh light generates a lot of heat. As soon as i get another fan, i may put my lr2s under that.

I really like the idea of cool lights for my cabinet for the smaller plants where I can't vent.

I may make a stop at Petco for a black light too, why not.

I'll post some updated pics of the girls later.

Black lights are not good for growing as far as I know. You can get the uvb bulbs at a pet store but they are much cheaper on Ebay.

wannabee. def black light is the wrong kind. you want a high wattage reptile uvb light. also t5hos are not technically cooler. they dissipate heat better so less hot spot. no matter what the source 400 watts makes 1365 btus of heat. but hps makes alot of heat on top of the plants. thats the prob that is solved with flouros. but def overall the same heat. at first i was fooled but 400 watts is def 400 watts of heat regardless of source. if your growroom stays at 75 normally and with the 400 raises how ever much you will need 1365 btu airconditioner to bring back to original temp. but flouros are much easier tomplace close to the plants.
when you buy the uvb lighting try to get 40 watts if you use the 400 as 10% total wattage is recommended. not lumens but watts. let us know what you pick up. my new cross is sprouting slowly cant wait. lol

Hey ray, good to see you back. Ya they do look a bit stretchy. Did you top or prune them at all? Do that during veg and you can get a lot bushier plants. They look nice and healthy though. You should see a good growth spurt soon.

:joint:oh, geez... I guess I didn't do my reading about that UVB light very well, must be smoking too much of the bagseed plants, lol. I went to a pet store and saw the reptile bulbs, but will look around e-bay as will need a fixture for that too. If this will increase potency, I'd say its worth it.

The roots of my lr2s don't seem to want to grow very rapidly and one is looking like another male. Never thought I'd get tired of seeing males, lol. :peace:

You can put the uvb bulb in any light socket, nothing special needed....just order your bulb off ebay and get the socket at the store....there are a bunch of different bulbs on ebay, took me a while to figure out which one to get....i believe i should have ordered 2 though..

I got to get my babies in the rockwool tomorrow asap....was gone all day and to late now they are sleeping.....The dam seeds blew up and are growing into the papertowel....i hope i dont hurt them putting into rockwool...

I thought the UVB lights were long and thin lke flourescents. Do they come in a regular size bulb? Under what category dd you find them on e-bay? Thanks.

Hey guys its been awhile since ive been on here. Of course i had some mishappenings with the Low Life WR. My Siberian Husky managed to eat them all in a 10 second period i had my back turned. I remade my defenses as shes just a pup and have restarted with Lowryder AK Fems. I have 5 going that i started 3 days ago i have them on a 20/4 light cycle and was wondering what was the best time to switch to bloom bulbs and when to switch to 18/6. I am using 4 dollar a bag top soil with pete moss about 50/50 mix and i was thinking about using bat guano i wanted some opinions on anything as i am trying to get this right. Also my friend told me i would probably harvest a max of a half oz combined from the 5 plants, is this true, and can i do anything short of new lighting to change this. Thanks

They come in CFL's also. Search "UVB 10". you want the 10% UVB, and like I said I have not found them any higher than 26w.

You can run the lights 18/6 all through veg. If you want to make your life easier get some Foxfarm Ocean Forest soil, you won't need to add anything to it for about 4 weeks and your seedlings will look great. Great stuff and you will have the best looking plants you ever had. Lighting is one of the major key's to making more bud and better bud. I like 75w per sq foot if I can. That would be about max you should use. You can get decent stuff with CFL's or T5's but nothing beats HID, period.

yeah i know that i wont yield anywhere near as much as a HID but all i have to work with is a little closet in my apartment when i get a house i plan on different shit but untill now i just wanted to get an idea of what people might yield if they used a 4 bulb t5 sylverstar light also what else if anything will i need to add to them i am using Fox Farm grow big petemoss and soil

I would get the Tiger Bloom and Big Bloom also. Their all used in flower and veg. Just because they say bloom on them does not mean they are only for flowering. In fact a flower mix is better for the really young plants. Or at least an even N-P-K ratio. Maybe a little high on the K, good for roots and stalk growth. It makes fatter stalks. If I were to use only one supplement it would be Sucanat. It's cheap and really good for them in many ways. It's an all natural sugar/molasses type thing.

So you are saying i should be using all 3 of the foxfarm products at once? Like mix 1 tsp of each into the water or something or how long should i wait. Also i was talking to someone on here who reccomended 3 bloom bulbs on my 4 bulb i wasnt sure if this is better than 2 and 2 but i would like a second opinion as well, and when would you reccomend i start using bloom bulbs with this strain

Check out the Foxfarm scedule, It tells you how much to give them at the different stages of growth. The bulb thing is a lot of personal preference. I veg with 42w soft white CFL's and get nice bushy plants. But only because I can't buy a daylight bulb that high locally. I don't know that strain so no help there, sorry.

I think you can get tube ones, but i just got the 10%, spirl, cfl....i would say get a couple of them...i think i need another...heres a link to what i got...

http://cgi.ebay.com/Zoo-Med-Reptisun-Compact-Desert-Light-UVB-10-0-Bulb-New_W0QQitemZ130287191107QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item130287191107&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116

They also have an 18'' t8 tube bulb, that would probably cover the area better though....
