Yes, until the lower growth meets or exceeds the height of the top. It's called breaking apical dominance. Good luck!

When I use trellis netting, my goal is to create as even a canopy of tertiary branches as possible.
if you do a decent job of growing horizontally, it's a lot easier to get a sea of nugs.
 
People r too cool for the blurple these days yea, well the objective is to get all your side shoots all to the same height. And if one starts to outpace another one, just pluck a fan leaf and it should stunt it from taking off.
