Macro Ringflash

Sub,

I recently read your thread about taking Macro Shots. After doing so I purchased a new camera with good macro capabilities (Coolpix 5400). I have everything but the ringflash b/c my funds only could only afford the camera. Can I still get some decent quality Macro pictures without a ringflash?

I can't wait until it ships so I can take photos of my SS results b/c they are outstanding. After many runs/battles with bottled nutes, I was amazed by how simple, yet effective your SS recipe is. Your threads/videos have taught me so much. Thank you Sub for all your help along the way.

If you have them under T5s the shots look great imo. The HPS is way bright unless you expose properly and color balance.

Yes you will need a ring flash but you can build your own

That 5400 will focus as close as 2MM or about 1/2" away from the bud so you need a ring flash to prevent shadowing

I am not much of a builder so instead of using the link above I bought something like this and it didnt fit but I used a drimel to modify it to slide around my 5400 lens and it made me kinda famous :)
