‘Malawi cob style’ cure

California always had great weed, it wasn't all that prevalent in the rest of the country until the last 20 years or so.

Reading the high times prices as a kid was so interesting, we couldn't figure out wtf was up with all the crazy prices and varieties out there. Then a buddy went to LA in the early 90s with his parents and brought some back...then we knew.
I’ll be honest with you, in the hood/ Compton in the early 80s, there was Mexican grown and variations on that theme. Every now and then, if we were lucky, we get a hold of some Thai, that was about it for us. All the good shit never made it there. Back then the white dudes had the good weed connections and there were no white dudes where I lived. Didn’t meet my first white peer until I went into the military in 85’

Northern California was all about the outdoor homegrown by the late 70's. In my circle of friends anyway. The seeds that were saved from the brick weed grew very well in the Northern Ca. climate. Driving around in some remote areas you would smell skunk weed when the wind blew. Indica was new and exotic back then as well..buds looked like miniature cabbage heads. Anyone who says the weed back in the day sucked wasn't smoking the same as me and my neighbors.
Our best came from hillbillies and hippies down in Kentucky and Tennessee. It was pretty damn good, though I am sure nostalgia plays a big part. Wasn't exactly processed great at harvest though, a good modern trim and dry would have been neat. Mostly just hung in the sun, defanned but still leafy, lightly compressed.

Anywho, cobs....yeah I saw the pics tang put up back on IC and thought "mmmhmmm I have seen weed that looked like that...and it was awesome."

Well this seems weird and interesting. Since I don't sell, and have more than I can use, I gonna have to try this at least once. Maybe it will be survival weed for my bunker...
Thats the point of this thread. I’d like to see others give it a try with an at least an ounce and share info and experience. The fermentation process improves the weed dramatically and makes the cobs edible, chewable (like Copenhagen), you can brew tea with it. And improves smoke-ability.

I think I accidentally made some cob weed on vacation last week, where it was hot as fuck. I have a fabric pouch that I keep my stash in when traveling, it's got 2 velcro closures, and the bag is lined with charcoal. Keeps 100% of the smell inside the bag.
Usually, I keep it in between my sunroof and the panel under the sunroof that slides open and closed to let light/air in. Generally it's only there for 45 minutes at a time, so I don't worry about the heat.
But while on vacation in a non friendly state, it was there a majority of the time, just baking away. After returning home, and getting my stash out to actually look at it, it has turned a dark golden color. I did notice when I smoked it, the smell was just insane. Like someone else said, my truck smelled like 30 hippies spent a few hours in there baking it out. I would roll a pinner, and burn half of it with the windows down, but the smell stuck like Chuck. Im not sure if it gained any potency, but it sure didn't lose any. Half a joint and I was completely baked.

Thanx for a new stoner project! I will post my experience once it is finished. Worst case scenario, it goes in the brownie bin...

Allrighty, I'm in. Using 2 different plants that were not quite up to snuff, 1 zip Jack Herrer and 1/2 zip of a fruity specimen of uncertain lineage. I'm a bit of a Pot snob. So rather than give it away, I'm cobbin' it! Both have been vacuum sealed and so with a nod to Grass Burner, I put them above the visor in my truck. It's 105 F so they'll stay there till dark and then into my dehy until 2PM tomorrow.
I hope this actually works, Ya know I just love experiments....

Same bud, bottom was baked in intense heat for a week, top kept in cool conditions.

So what happened there is when the weed has moisture in it and it’s placed in a fairly warm environment and there is no oxygen Anaerobic conditions cause the uptake of nitrogen when the bud has no O2 removing the green color. The plant converts sugars and starches to gas off as alcohol. Sometimes in my initial sweat at 130f the vacuum seal bag gasses up. This usually occurred with wetter weed 75-80rh. This in my opinion is truly curing the weed. All the burping nonsense (which I do with my traditional style buds) is really slow drying.

It’s important to take a small sample after the initial sweat. Gotta open the bag anyway

Oops, no sweat? My material was a bit too dry. Still, it bricked up nicely and smelled a bit stronger. I Don't ever early smoke, but I did here to get a taste, and, for a 5 day dry with no cure, not too bad.
Planning to start a blueberry cob tomorrow with fresh material in the proper moisture range, mmmm blueberry!!!

I love snuff.....put it up the old schnoz, never had chewed it.....sounds a little gross, also didn't know that "fermentation" would activate THC.i always open to something new, I love running "experiments". I think I'll skip the chewing of snuff, I'd probably suffocate on the pulverized particulate.
