I'm trying to make some marijuana cream/oil for joint pain, and back pain. Any leads to where to start at to make a decent quality one? I have about 2-3 oz to make some. any info would be greatly appreciated.

I make it all the time. I use a recipe I found online, I don't have the exact ratios but basically u use combine the trim and coconut oil a slow cooker and cook on low overnight. Strain out the solids and add beeswax. Let that simmer for an hour or 2 and then pour into a container. U can add essential oils if u so desire.
Depending on the amount of beeswax u can get anywhere from a liquid/mush all the way to a hard butter consistency.

Do you decarb separately, or is the slow cooker mixing the trim, and oil together considered decarbing?

I design skin creams so it would not be difficult to put together a recipe. In fact I did, once. I tried it on my late mum-in-law for her joint pains. It had no effect at all. This doesn't really surprise me because both the THC and CBD molecules are far too large to penetrate the skin barrier.

Making a skin cream is not difficult. You need oil, water, and an emulsifier to put them together. Lecithin is effective but it is smelly and hard to preserve. Far better is glycerol monostearate. You heat them all to 80C and use a high shear mixer eg stick blender. If there's enought people interested I'll put a formula.
