Mars Hydro TS1000, height from plants at different stages?

As per the website, the recommendation is:
  • Germination: 24"-30"
  • Seeding: 24"
  • Veg: 18"-24"
  • Bloom: 12"-18"
After asking around, I have been given contradicting information such as, "Lower it 2-4" from manufacturers recommendation," "Higher than manufacturers recommendation," etc.

So, for those of you who use the Mars Hydro TS1000 from seed to harvest:

How far above the plant do you keep your light in different stages of growth (Example: Germination, Seedling, Veg, and Bloom)?

I have different boards, but I like to start the lights high from the start, and just let the plants grow closer as they get older. If I have to raise them later I will. A lot of the commercial growers never adjust their lights.

As I am working with limited space, I don't want the plants to grow too high or stretch too much. Hoping I can stop any stretching and will see leaf/root growth.

24-30" will be fine to begin with. move em closer if they stretch
Thank you, I also am currently having issues with the leaves "cupping" for some reason. I don't think it's heat stress as the light is far enough away from the plant and it sits at around 25 C. It wasn't doing this a few days ago and the only change I have made is taking off my humidity dome. The current humidity in the tent is about 53% RH. Would you recommend putting the dome back on until she is stronger?

Ya you're thinking about this a bit too much. Put it at what looks like a decent distance, 15-18" away, and if the plants don't like it, they'll certainly tell you in no time. You'll get lots of yellowing or "bleaching" of the newest top growth and you'll know to raise it a few inches.

53% out of the humidity dome iS PLENTU for later veg, bit when it's THAT small, yes I do recommend you use a dome of sorts. Make sure you wipe off the moisture collecting on it daily.

looks happy enough to me, man.

Ya cupping isn't even possible without the leaves to do the cupping, man.
Alright thank you, I just have never seen that before where the leaves "cup" and fold up next to each other so I wasn't sure what that was and couldn't find any information on seedlings this young. So Just to clarify, 15-18" away until I see negative change, and reapply the humidity dome until they're older and more tolerable?

If it's that little, I would raise the light up to at least 24" for now.

alright thank you, it just seems odd because my seedling is 5 days from sprout and should definitely be bigger/more leaves based on what I have seen from others at a similar stage. I am growing in CoCo/Perlite 70/30 mix.

Just grow it in the environment where it will spend the other 99% of its life. Humidity domes are a waste of time with weed unless your ambient is <40
