i recently got my medical permission and am planning on setting up a grow room to accomadate 30 plants if you were in my position what would you do to maximize the situation currently i have one 400 watt and one 1000 watt systems i have 1 grow tent than is 4x4 and 2 feet deep and one that is 6.5 feet tall and 4x4 i am open to all sugestions and will give out +rep to all responders

ps i have about $1200 to invest

scrap the tents. i used them, and they are more trouble then they are worth...heat problems...

take your 400 watter and start vegging 15 clones right away...

use the 1200 and go buy another 1000 watter. and some really good fans..

frame out an 8'x8' room in your house with some 2'x4's and put that sheet insulation around the outside and inside. cut holes for an intake and an exaust..intake should be bottom corner and the exhaust the opposite top corner. intake should be less powerful then exaust. id get a really powerful exhaust like 1000 cfm+

take your 2x1000 watters and set them up in that 8'x8' room.

after your clones are nice and big id say give a two month veg so you can maximize yield with the plant restrictions. , take 15 more clones and put them under the 400 and then take the 15 big plants and put them in flower. that way your under the legal limit. make sure you get a good 8 week high yielding strain and when then 2 months flower is up the clones should be ready to go...reclone them and so on and so forth...

Don't get hung up on the number of plants. It's all about the canopy space and the yield. You could fill the 4x4 with 4 plants under 1000w ... and get 1lb. That would be more than enough crop to keep you busy. Go bigger when you've got some experience under your belt.

Use the 400w to veg and the 1000w to flower. Hydro or dirt? Make sure you plan out the ventilation. Plan your air flow, Co2 and cooling if you want to grow good bud. That's absolutely crucial for success.

You can't get Co2 on your budget, so vent to the outdoors and allow fresh air to naturally replace your Co2. Use a good filter (they are worth every penny). Consider an oversized fan and a variable speed controller http://aeroponicsnmore.com/climate-control-ventilation-c-23_5/temp-2v-fan-speed-control-variable-idle-setpoint-p-181 to adjust the cfm. That will allow you to bypass an AC until it gets summer time.

90% of the noobs put up the light, add plants ... and fail miserably. Read a lot of journals and notice that most end abruptly with cooked plants. Everyone is super proud of their vegging plants ... but watch what happens at around week 6 of 12/12 when they have crappy ventillation ;) I'm just sayin! Find successful grows, rinse and repeat.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
Great post.

More plants dont also mean Bigger yields if there all crowded together and not receiving lumens of light, you'll lose out.

Under a thousand watt light, I would say 8 is max.

And if you got a light mover it would be ideal.

Good luck to ya!! :peace:

I definitely agree with the ideas of framing in a more solid structure and not worrying about the # of plants but worrying more about efficiently getting light to the plants. As far as the 30 plant number goes, I know a guy who knows a guy who runs 6 rooms with 4 1000k hps in each and he doesn't even have 30 in a room.
