Maybe one of my plants did me a favor

One of my plants showed me its sex early. Unfortunately its a male but its so early that I can save some pollen before the other plants show. I sure could use some fresh seeds for next year.

Am I correct in assuming that if I save some pollen I can brush some on a couple flowers and get seeds on only the flowers I pollenate. Or should I just get rid of the plant before the all of the pollenators open up. I don't see any flowers or preflowers on my other plants yet.
