The Cast:

2 Afghan Skunk Clones
1 Fruity Fruit Clone
1 Blueberry (R.I.P.)
5 Autoflowering Jock Horror Seeds

The Soil:

40/40/20 - Scotts Select/Peat/Earthworm Castings

The Nutes:

Technaflora Complete Grow Kit (or whatever the fuck it's called)

After getting my certification here in Michigan I decided to try my first grow. I bought a 400W HPS light from HTG Supply and 9 - 5 gallon buckets from Home Depot. For air circulation I'm using two oscillating fans, one floor mounted and one hanging from the ceiling pointing out to an 8" ventilation hole at the top of the doorway to my grow room. The resulting airflow keeps my 4x4x7 room a cool 78 degrees.

Here are the pics taken 6/27/10:

2 Weeks Veg on the Afghans (bottom left two), 3 days on the Fruit (bottom right) and Blueberry (middle). The blueberry was weak and died a few days after these pics were taken. The jock horror seeds were germ'd in paper towel for 24 hours and all sprouted roots about 1/2" long. The pics are 2 days post germination.

The grow is progressing nicely. I've hit the clones with Thrive Alive B1 and Root 66 at 1/4 strength in a spray bottle. I'm struggling with how much water to give these ladies. Have been hitting them with about 1 gal of tap *gasp* water total between all the plants that I let sit out for over 24 hours to kill off the chlorine. Perfect 7.0ph so it's pure.

I'm running 20/4 light at this point. My clones are already flowering and I'm getting anxious to switch to 12/12. I really want to be at least 2-3 weeks post germination for the AF Jocks before I switch. I only have 1 room to Veg and Flower so I have to do them all the same way and 12/12 is best for my clones.

I added a 48" Fluorescent light for supplemental lighting on the backside of my larger clones It's not ideal, originally I had some bag seeds vegging in my garage and used this light before realizing that my garage gets above 100 degrees in the summer. Bag seeds are now outside and I moved this light in.

I have decided to LST the Jocks once the 3rd node appears.

Here are the pics at this point taken 7/2/10:

And from today (now my journal is caught up)

Still watering once every other day or so. Using my moisture meter to determine how much water. I am shocked at how difficult it is for me to wrap my mind around the amount of water I should be giving my plants here. Still spreading out a gallon of water between the 3 plants. Hit the seedlings last week with a 1/4 strength grow formula of Boost, Sugar Daddy, Thrive Alive, Root 66 and something else I don't remember. www.TechnaFlora.com has the info, I'm following their directions. Looking good, the larger Afghan is showing signs of moisture stress I think, could be too much light.

I started to LST 3 of my Jocks and also my Fruity Fruit because she was struggling. After Pulling one branch down she doubled in size in a week!

Here we are today 7/10/2010:

Update 7/16/2010

I have abandoned the LST on the jocks after snapping one in half. I'm really bummed about that but I was able to save the plant.

Here are the pics:

I adopted 2 AK47 clones yesterday. They're tiny and need to veg a while.
I am going to veg the AK's outside under glass to see what happens. I really have no idea what that will do so it should be fun.

Here are the AK's:

Side note, the dispensary down the road just started stocking Jock Horror! I picked up a sample and I love it. It's a real up feeling with just enough Indica to give a body buzz without turning you into a lump. I knew it was a good choice! :joint:

Hey man, if you don't mind me asking, do you know the yield of the Jocks? I am thinking of getting me one, but I am unsure of the flowering time and yield. Thanks.

Not at all man, but my info is just from reviews. I've read of people harvesting 2-3oz per plant when LST'd and under optimal lighting. I doubt I'll be that lucky. But, as far as smoking pleasure goes, my local dispensary had this stuff in stock the last time I stopped in so I picked some up and WOW! I'm a seasoned smoker and this shit knocked me on my ass for about 4 hours. No joking and that was the 3rd high of the day so it's good stuff.

Thanks for checking out my journal.

Sorry about that, I forgot to address the flowering time. These girls are feminized auto-flowering so they're supposed to go from seed to harvest in about 75 days. This is my first grow so we'll see.

Day 25 of 12/12:
Side note - probably need less pics but I'm getting excited. Started to notice trichomes forming on all the buds about 4 days ago. :)

I forgot to post some pics of my AK47 clones. They're about 20 days in to veg and looking good. I had to split the short one in half because it was already 'Y' shaped so they the hell not. I'm done with all the bending now. I have it the shape I want so now it just needs to recover. It started flowering about 3 or 4 days after I got it so I switched to 24 hours of light and it's looking good.

My Jock's should finish within then next week or two. Friday (payday) I'll be picking up a scope to give them the "once over" prior to harvest. I'm gonna start the flush tomorrow. I could really use some advice on that whole process. I've read just about everything I can find here and I'm a little in the dark still.

I thought now would be a good time to run down my expenses so far. I did this grow on the cheap but I haven't totalled everything yet so here it is:

On Hand: 2 Oscillating Fans, Grow Room, 2 light fixtures, extension cord, power strip.

400w HPS/MH Lamp, Hood, Ballast and 2 Outlet Light Timer from HTG: $165

4 - Scott's Select 2 CF Bags $32
10 - Peat Moss 1 CF Bags $10
1 - 20# Bag Earth Worm Castings $22

12 - Homer Buckets: $24
8 100w equivalent CFL bulbs: $8
3 - Y Splitter for bulbs: $9
2 - Light Bulb Socket Plugs: $5
25' Mylar Roll - $14
Technaflora Complete Grow Kit - $35

Total $324

Overall that total is not too bad. I probably could have done it cheaper by reducing the types of soil in the blend or composting. Right now I am have an impromptu veg. area using the CFL lighting so that's a necessity. I should have spent the extra $40 and got the 600w HPS/MH Kit though. And I still need an inline fan which will be $120 and then add about $30 to build a carbon filter.

None of this includes the seeds or clones of course.
The Jock Horror seeds were from Attitude and cost $60
The Clones were $40 for the 2 skunks, Fruity Fruit and the Blueberry (R.I.P.) and $20 for the 2 AK's.

Ha, the total is $444.

The Afghan Skunks and Fruity Fruit...probably 3-4 weeks out still.

I can't wait to get the AK's in the flowering room.

My step-brother was nice enough to set me up with 16 new clones so I'll have them vegging and getting ready for my next grow. I wonder if it counts as a new grow if the first one never stops LMAO.

I have 4 different strains coming...anyone ever heard of these or have anything to share about them:

Afghan Kush
Elvis
Cinderella

I suspect the Afghan Kush will be similar to my Afghan Skunk, maybe just a different name?? But I've never heard of Elvis or Cinderella.

The 4th strain is a mystery to both of us so that should be cool.
