Hello everyone,
Im new to the site. I think that its great that there are so many preople here at this site to help others grow.

Anways Ive been away from mj for a few years because of my job. Now that Im going back to college Im really thinking about getting back into it and growing my own. I want to get a medical card so everything is legit and there are no problems with the law. I have a question though about getting a medical mj card in california. Im wodering if the state registers you if you recieve one. Im concerned that if I do get one then that will disqualify me in getting the job that I want in the medical feild once I get my degree. (The FBI does a background check, and drug charges automatically bar you). However I know that I would be getting a recomendation from a doctor so HIPPA would come into play. Would it?

Could anyone help me out??

Hi Indie,

I would look into it further before you get so called "legal"
Once you do there will be a record of it and it is quite possible you will have trouble later.

Its just my opinion but I think at some time the government is going to take a good long look at that list of people who are legal and do something. Who knows what.

I can tell you that a friend of mine was denied a liver transplant, Hell they wouldn't even put him on the list because he was legal. He passed away last month.

I have a feeling when it come to obtaining licenses for medical, legal, real estate and possibly even contractor licenses that it may come into play. I guess you have to ask yourself "is it worth it?"

Just my opinion, hope it works out.

Hello Cruzer,
First off Im sorry to hear about your freind. Its crazy that he was denied a liver transplant because he was using medicine that was recomended to him by a physician. I know that doctors and surgeons can be real assholes and consider themselves godlike when there is a board for transplants.

I know that by getting a medical card you go on a database through the state, which I agree with you wouldn't be good. But I read about the process before and can't you just get a doctor's recomendation and not get registered through the state? From what I read and understand you can get a recomendation and still go to despensaries and still grow with just the recomendation of a doctor. The card is for the conveince of the state police so they can verify that you are a patient if you were to get pulled over when you had medicine in your car, or the police were informed that you were growing in your house. According to the police this would speed up the process of verification, instead of calling the doctor's office verifying that you're a patient and have a recomendation, verifying that your doctor is legit,ect...ect...ect..... and keeping you out of jail for the night while they checked up on these things.

I know that getting on a database is a bad thing. Definately not something I want. But couldn't going on record be avoided by just getting the recomendation and not applying for a card through the state?

Hi Indie,

Well, I know that once you get the recommendation in California you take that to a dispensary and they issue you a card. You need to be a member of each one you use and have there card to get meds. so its not like you can go shopping.

Thats the card. Thats the record. Thats what you need to show police.
You also get a certificate with a copy of your Drivers license on it.

You are entitled to grow eight plants in flower and eight plants in veg.
All States are different though.

Here in Cali the recommendation does not get you anywhere.
You need to take it to a local dispensary and get there card.

Thanks for the clarification Cruzer,

I guess that there is no way for me to remain an anonymous grower and still not get in trouble if there was a run in with police,(besides not getting caught:roll:). It's kind of a double edged sword. If I get a medical card then I'm fucked in the background check. If I just grow and smoke anyways and get caught then I'll have a criminal record, again I'll be fucked in the background check.

This is suck a hypocritical issue. How can the state say that its ok if you use marijuana for medical reasons, but then turn around and say that if you work in the medical feild then you can use it?

Thanks for the help though Cruzer:peace:

Medical Marijuana (MOD)
yes that's your own little secret, don't even tell you personal DR. they can and will deny you of pain meds, and like waz mention any type of transplant....if your registered threw your state like mine it will protect you from potential jail right from the get go.

No problem. Happy to help.

The problem is, too many people just want to get stoned and sign up not looking ahead.

Yep, like mygirls posted, don't get caught and keep your mouth shut. That will work.
Believe me, they are not looking for you.
