It takes a lot of snow to get a good amount of water. From where you say you are, a supply of snow will be in abundance...and it's FREE.

Snow is good, and makes good water. There is no such thing as no PH. Snow has a neutral PH just make sure it is clean snow.

i read on one thread about 2 weeks ago he used snow a few days later some of his plants had died ... personaly i wouldnt risk it but if these guys know ther stuff go for it

thansk for the quick replies guys................. and yes i just noticed how much snow i will need to even fill a bucket the bucket i filled earlier is not even 1/3 full of water and i filled it to the brim with snow but atleast its enough to feed them for the day i will prob get a pot out and throw the snow in the pot and warm it up that way so i can get the water faster....... wouldn't the yellow snow be good for the plants though.... well for when its flowering atleast

I think there is a saying that one inch of rain can make a foot of snow. Seems true when you see what you get after you melt it.

there is a lot of pollution in the atmosphere that the snow can absorb. i would recommend against it...

Well, then that would also rule out rain water as it forms and falls from the atmosphere. The trees, grass, and other plants look good from it...or it all did until the damn snow came and covered everything.

the outdoor plants have become acclimated to it and it also disperses over a large area. in a potted plant it's more concentrated. And yes, according to several indoor gardening books and forums I have seen they have recommended people stay away from rain water and melted snow because of this.

word up kerovan.............. im more of an outdoor grower so i dont really care............... im just seeing how this years batch of seeds turned out i dont really care if they die or not u hear

i'd say its better then teh distilled water i've been using

but thanks for the advice

Get a pail and fill with city water let stand for 2 hours your set to go. The chlorine will off gas in less than 1 hour.

The same pollution is in the rain as the snow the only difference is it gets concentrated as the layers of snow melt so you actually have more in pail of snow than rain. But as pointed out everything still grows...

I've grown for years EXCLUSIVELY with rainwater. It never ceases to amaze me with the timidity of some of the growers out there. It's weed man not orchids.
