Hi everyone, so im starting my second grow with a 400W MH + HPS light and 2 gallon pots. My last grow i had about 208W of CFL and was probly using maybe a 1 gallon pot and had an alright yield. Now my question/worry is and the whole reason why im posting this is because it seems like my babies arent growing that fast or tall, the light is about 3 feet or so from the plants and they sprouted on 4/12 i just started feeding them FoxFarm GrowBig and I put in the recommended 1 tsp in but that gave them nute burn so now im flushing them out and putting in only a 1/2 of a tsp. But give me your opinions and what not all the help would be appreciated cuz im still a nooby, oh and the strain is Snow White and when should i start topping them?

Oh and temps get around 80-90 degrees

Your lights are way too high. 400MH is only effective to 36". (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). I was running a 400w MH (NON COOLED) and had it at about the same temp ranges as yours at the same height. I put it in an air cooled hood @ 12" and the plants took off. I bumped it up to 18"" and the temps are running sub 80* with 50% humidity. Your plants are suffering from a combonation of heat stress and ineffective lighting. IMO

Here they are now, I'm pleased that any lived, as I am still a noob.

Do not get me wrong they look great. Looks like you reacted quicker than I did, I heat stressed my plants almost to death, but once I got the temps under control (added a sun systems hood and 160CFM fan) they took off and I am seeing substantial growth. I think if you get your light closer you will see amazing results.

This is why I am building an environment that I control. I want to be able to adjust to different plant requirements.

Is your hood vented?

Yo literally like i dont know anything about my system i just got it off Ebay, im guessing it isn't because it just looks like a half pipe and the bulb sits in the middle. i have a medium sized fan blowing over my plants but i might need another and i have fresh air intake going through my room all day, i might try that homemade Co2 thing and if not that i guess i'll go see some hoods at my local hydroponic store

Right now I am running 78* internal and 74* externally. I am striving to create totally controled sealed enviroment where I control all the variables. Check out what this guy did, if heat is an issue there is always CFL and T5's.

cfl would be the way to go
they grow slower but there is almost no heat (cheep to)
or co2 will help the plants survive the heat + extra fan
or a/c ,

Lol but heat isn't an issue, and I was dumb and left my ballast inside the closet (wow) so I'm gonna do the whole Co2 thing and get another fan in this closet. Oh and do those homemade Co2 bottles have a time life I'm sure they do and would you know how long it is

just move lights to 24 in or 12 in. they look good so far. once u move ligth closer u will see tremendous results

Nevermind on the 3 ft. from the plants, i guess i suck with eyeing out measurements cuz its only 18 inches away from the plants :/
just really that back middle one is taking forever, and i believe that was the random mid strain that i randomely put in there.
And also with the nute burn, do you guys think it would be because i used FF Ocean Forest and big bloom and it just over fert it or what?

Alright thank you makes me feel better hearing that from a veteran grower. It just seemed like when i had the CFL's going and at 2 1/2 weeks they were atleast 2 or so inches taller than that

You don't NEED to go out and buy an air cooled hood. Like Kaleo says, don't stress. For two weeks old your babies look plenty healthy. Just keep surfing the forums for help along the way, and you will make it.

short tight plants are better anyways

they were prob taller with cfl because they streched because they didnt get enough light as the wanted
