mildew smell

Hi, i'm finishing up my 4th week flowering and my buds are smelling like mildew. I have carefully looked at the buds and cannot find any. other than the smell they look fine. they are growing good and are producing alot of trichomes now. i've heard of people having weed that smelled like cat piss or road kill because of the strain. the plant the seeds came from didn't smell like the mildew though. there's a real sweet dank smell on you if you brush against it though. It's like it has two different scents. maybe i'm just paranoid. what should i be looking out for? can you see mildew? if it does start showing mildew is there anything i can do, or will it be a total loss? i'm sorry this has been so long, and thanks in advance for any help.

Have you examined every leaf particulary the fan leaves? You might have some white mildew ( false mildew ) growing where you have overlooked. They look like white powedery spots and the mildew spray I use at times has a smell of light garlic to it. Just remember if you are in the last three weeks of flowering do not spray anything on your plants to possibly remedy problems.

I really can't find any mildew or spots anywhere. it just seems to be the smell (so far). thanks calicat, i didn't even realize there was a spray for mildew. I've never had to deal with mold or mildew before. are these types of sprays available anywhere (like lowe's or something) or do i need to find like a hydro shop or something?

I'm thinking it's just the plants. Some strains smell a lot like mildew. If they look healthy and keep growing, I wouldn't sweat it.

Hydro shops are a great place to start. Nurseries would carry them as well. Don't feel you have a lack of grow skills because it happens to everyone from time to time. There are some strains that are more prone to mildew or mold attack than others. Sodium bicarbonate or hydrogen peroxide are fungicides but I could not give you the eact dosage when used with water alone.
