MM Patients Can NOT Drive in Michigan!

So, if the one bill passes (4843 I think) that turns over our info to police, can they simply run your plate and determine that you are a medical marijuana patient during a traffic stop?

If so, pretty much ANY patient behind the wheel is screwed! I wouldn't be so concerned if they had to smell/detect the marijuana first before being allowed to access the registry because I don't smoke in my car, but if they have carte blanche to access the registry without probable cause, then we're all effed!

Anyone have clarification on this?

its 4834 (bill) and yes Stow, that is about the jist of it.

if LEO can see your on the Registry thru lean, you can gaurentee a set of flashing bubbles and a trip to the hospital to get a bloodtest looking for Active THC. and We will ALL have it for the most part. even days after the last use.

Leo wouldn't be able to get that info by running a plate. They have to have your registry number, First and last name. So as I read the bill, they would have to pull you over for something else, then get that info if they desire. Still not good, but better than just a plate run.

That's not so bad then. They would basically have to have some suspicion that you used marijuana (a bag in plain sight, odor, etc) to warrant running your name .... and even then you would have to provide to them the registry number? Is that correct?

Either way, it sounds like you do NOT want to admit to using marijuana, or identify yourself as a medical marijuana patient unless you are literally busted with meds on you. Every single one of us would have enough thc in our systems to fail the test even days after last medicating.

i would fail if they tested me years later:bigjoint:

Just a thought I'm wondering more on- what about LEAP? Do they have a registry? Is there a way to know which of the popoo's are friendlies?

Bob. you are correct in CURRENTLY, they can not access the registry via LIEN, to inquire about a card holder. atleast not without Probable Cause and a Warrent.

BUT if 4834 passes, it will INDEED allow ANY LEO, ANY Government Official, and even Prison Gaurds and Rental Cops, anyone with access to LIEN, to have direct Access to the Registry.

Lets not forget, Police run your Plate number, It it attached to your NAME> your NAME is on the Registry, and If LEO has Full Un Warrented Acces to the Registy via LIEN, They will certainly be able to run your plate number, and immediately know your on the MMMP Registry. Thats how they are setting it up to work.

Make no mistake, If they get Un Warranted access to the Registry. You ll be going in for a blood test.

Just listen to the MSP testimony in the 1st video of the Legislature Videos of the Public Testimony.

the MSP Sgt states clearly, an officer or anyone with authority, can access the LIEN system for any reason they feel is in accordance with the situation they are currently dealing with.

So please explain to these good people bob, how LEO Access to the Registry via LIEN is nothing to worry about again?

On Probable Cause, just seeing your MMP Registry card would then be plenty of probable cause to get a blood test as well.

The bill clearly states that having a registry card IS NOT probable cause for any search, personal OR property. In addition, even if an officer WAS able to find that you had an mm card by just running your plate, why would he be running your plate unless your doing something that is going to get you pulled over?

You'd have me believe that cops would just drive around running plates until they find someone on the registry? That's pretty paranoid. Then what would they do, as the bill clearly states that being on the registry does NOT constitute probable cause? Pull you over for no reason?

If your driving 85 in a 55 zone, or you are wandering all over the road, or maybe even if you have a headlight out, yes..they may call in your plate...but they do that now.

The increased risk,if any, is minimal, so long as you can drive ok, and have a vehicle that works properly.

Police do that very thing, Bob... If a pig is behind you bet your bottom dollar he is running your plates. why? because it's good police work... Everyone is a criminal in the mind set of some police officers . Unless your record is clean and your driving is spotless then they won't bother with you. It's not like they are "hunting you" it's that they are hunting anyone and everyone that they find that gets a "ping." I don't know if a MMJ Card will inspire a "ping" or not but, if so, pulling someone over became a non issue after the "set belt" law was enacted...

again bob, as I knew you would, you argued my point for me.

Without a doubt. This would most certainly make the difference between LEO running your plate and moving on to the next guy and LEO running your plate and jerking off as they pull you over. There is a slippery slope people are worried about getting on, but I feel we have been sliding down that bitch for decades. Over and over and over people with power abuse that power. From LEO, to the mob, to governors, to medical marijuana clubs, our country was built to keep this shit in check but all sides are corrupt, what are we going to do? I am scared. Just kidding. I made some coffee, I am going to my worm farm thread now.

It is Saturday night and I have a hot date with a worm shit thread. What in the fuck is wrong with me?

you are smart and dont want to be pulled over to get your papers and pedigree checked Glad.
I would say its the beginings of Patriotism, and being fed up with the shit and ignorance that if we just set back and wait for our freedom to be give back to us, we ll be waiting till our great great grandchildrens death and we'll have to still wait...

Id say your seeing the big picture Glad, even if we dont want to look. We wont turn into a pillar of salt. We have to look at this one.

I like to think I have been seeing the big picture. My variable was if any of these groups would benefit me as a patient/caregiver and can they be trusted. I think no and fuck no.

I'm going to hire a driver...

One of the proposed laws in Lansing would make it illegal for a patient to drive with plants with anyone who does not have a card. If everyone who has a card, that patient included, cannot drive because of a CoA ruling, then it will be impossible to transport plants.
