Moisture Content - Im confused

...read this...

Moisture is essential for the curing process, it is both your friend and enemy. If too much moisture is left in the buds, with out the regular mixing, venting and turning of buds involved with curing, molds and bacteria can quickly form and ruin the taste and potency of your stash. On the other hand, without the necessary moisture metabolic processes essential to curing do not take place.

Fresh cannabis plants are around 80% water (all %’s by weight); curing generally begins after the cannabis has lost half of it’s initial mass, and contains approximately 33% of it’s initial water.

Once curing is complete and the pot is “dry”, it should still contain 10-15% moisture, approximately 2-4% of its’ initial water. This is an ideal because most bacteria and molds can not grow below 15% water content, and below 10% cannabis buds tend to powder.

How do I measure the moisture in my buds?

...lets say I trim off all the leaves on my plant before I chop it down. okey, now before I hang it upside down in a dark place I weigh my whole plant. it shows 325 grams.

I will let it dry till its "dry".

remember what it said: "Once curing is complete and the pot is “dry”, it should still contain 10-15% moisture, approximately 2-4% of its’ initial water."

(now Im not sure what to do.. Im a bit confused)

cool, I think I will need some mathematics.

100% of the weight is the WATER, right?

so...

100% = 325g
15% = 48.75g (lets say 50g)

seems like I need to weigh my plant every day  and finally if it shows 50g I say: "wow, finnaly this shit contains 15% moisture."

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm... I hope I got it. tell me if Im wrong.

"100% of the weight is the WATER, right?"
i might b wrong, but i dont think thats physically possible.
let me c if i can explain... if the plant was completely dried of water, the leaves, stems, and roots still weigh something.
I think i heard once that the harvested bud's mass is something like 75% water... but its not 100%.

"Fresh cannabis plants are around 80% water (all %’s by weight)" - what does it mean then?

could u explain me please how do I measure the moisture in my buds? wasn't my theory even close to it? :D

yeah, that was about right.

during curing, you're really not losing much more moisture so much as redistributing it.

you don't need to weigh it - in fact you don't want it to completely dry out.

you hang until they are almost dry then you seal them up and burp out the air and let the moisture out once in while (be careful of mold) ... if you air dry them to the point they are done mathematically you may end up with some pretty harsh smoke.
