Mold and Hash

So I found that my popcorn bud/sugar leaf stash had formed a spider-web-like mold. It was very hard to see, I probably have been smoking this stuff for awhile. So I did a quick ISO run and it is drying right now.

I also checked my good stuff, and FUCK! Same shit. So my question is, what would be the best way to extract? Today was my first day doing any type of concentrate, I have read about ice water extraction.

i do the ice and water extraction with the bubble bags i got an 8 bag system for 65 bucks that works great

the hash will smell like mold. butane honey oil is the way I do it if I have any mold

Thanks for the input guys. It is a very miniscule amount of mold, the bud still smells great. But now that I know it's there I can't smoke it

I guess it gives me an excuse to try different extraction methods. And I have to start another grow

I would do a ice water extraction but with out the bags. Run it, strain it, let gravity do it's thing. fungi will/should float then can be seperated

Will do. I will probably do half ISO and half Butane.

I like the ice water method, it's just that with the mold I'm hesitant, otherwise I'd be all over it. Maybe I'll leave some buds just to test the ice water, practice lol

And the ISO run that I did this morning, the consistency varies. Some of it is super thick, sticky, and taffy-like. The rest is hard, powdery, can't really mold it. I think I let it dry too long. I guess I'll just sprinkle it on some bud and blaze it up.

Yes consistency varies with ISO, lots of variables.. If it's firm at room temp it's good, what you don't want is it to be oily. Oily is bad....... I would just stick with what you got going unless you a have a bunch to play with.... That Ice water method is different than bag type ice water extraction, zero bags are used and should remove most of fungi.

my dabbling in iso has led to nothing but epic failure. You've got to be a pro to make legit iso

I just let the ISO evaporate for about a day. Is it absolutely necessary to do a heat/vacuum purge? Stuff is pretty dark, must have soaked it too long. It was light brown while drying. Hmmm....

ISO is semi-polar solvent, what we want in the the bud is non-polar. That color is just some polar compounds coming out. I eat mine so I don't mind but thats why BHO is clearer and stonger.
