What's up with these? I'm just now hearing alot more chatter about them saving grows from pests. I see them mostly talked about with fungus gnat infestations but are they effective against other pests too? And in DWC? Pretty sure I have root aphids but could be fungus gnat I'm not sure. I have 4 girls in 5 gallon dwc a one is week 1 flower, one is 2 week veg and 2 on week 1 veg. I remember the older girls rez smelling mildew like when I would lift up her skirt and she was getting fucked by these little pest and was stunted from them, now it's not so much and she seems to be doing fine, but my younger girls now smell mildewy and I've seen a couple tiny little black flying pests around them. Idk yall lmk what you think, if you think the mosquito dunk would work and how to use them

They do work for fungus gnats, but they’re life cycle starts in soil or similar stuff and I’m not sure if they could really infest a hydro system. I don’t see the gnats causing the smell though, that’s probably more like fungus or bacteria. It’s pretty easy to make endless clear Rez out of pool shock which would help with the unwanted shit growing and smelling

Forgot to say that you basically put it in water and it almost impossible to over do it, apply every two weeks. You can break the dunks up or do what ever you want and the larvae eat it and die a painful death

From my understanding. The pucks are made from ground corn cob. Which has been treated with BTI.

They will raise PPM by a couple of hundred.

If your in dwc then H202 will do a much better job then dunks. .75 ml/g of 29% h202.

Do you mean just add it to the rez with the nute solution? Or soak the roots in water and h202 then rinse and put in rez with nute water?
Yes mix with whats in there, leave it in.Mix the h202 separately in another pail, say 2 gallons. So 1.25-1.5ml NO more.Pour that slowly through the net pot say 500ml do that 2-3 times over 24 hrs.
I run rdwc so a little different ,but I think you'll be safe with 0.75ml/g. i run 1 ml/g and if i pour it in too quickly my plants will wilt a little.

I have hydrogaurd in there too though, aren't you not supposed to mix hydrogaurd with h202?

Ive run 1 ml/g 29% h202 through my coco, gnats were gone after 2 feeds with it.
I use the h202 to keep the root rot away, once a week I add 30ml to my 30 g system. If I see any sign of root problems then i do it twice a week.

I cant help yeah there.H202 is cheap so Thats what I use.You could try scooping some of your solution out and pour through your net pots? I think its just chlorine isnt it?

I picked-up a six pack of mosquito dunks ($8.52 +tax) from Big Orange today. I didn't see the bits @ the store.

Can someone tell me how to dosage these for fungus gnats in soil? I can contrive ways and guess but need expert help.

Specifically I'm using three gallon plastic pots w/100% FFOF.

Stick 3 of them in a pail of water. Let soak then crush them up. Water with that water. Nice price. I’m in Canada their $5 a ring here.

You can also after crush scope out the particulars and spread it around on top of the dirt. Can’t really mess it up.

Can I crush the dunks dry, sprinkle the material on top of the soil, then water? It should filter through, right?

How many 3 gallon pots would one dunk be good for?

You can also just leave one in your water pail. Doesn’t matter how long it’s in there

If you wet them first they’ll break up into small pieces like sand.
OK. That's what I was hoping for dry. But I can experiment wet & dry. I'll sprinkle about one per 3 gal. pot on top of the soil, then water it in.

You bring up a point. I may look for/buy a used water cooler so I can store larger amounts of water. Right now I use 20 individual gallon jugs for water. The system I have is the water sits for about two weeks before use.

Why do you let your water sit so long?things will start growing lol.
I use city water that smells like chlorine fresh from the spigot After about 2 weeks the smell seems to be gone. So I have weeks of water defuming.
