Moving to Michigan from Ohio

abe , gladstoned , HomeLessBeans , thanks for the help and all the good information , things are looking a lot more promising , just might be on the right track now .

I keep looking between Grand Rapids and Leelanau, anywhere west of 131. I don't know so much about the cops, I assume they all suck. I just know that everyone I meet seems really friendly and they care about keeping it nice. Much of the Southeast part of the state is pretty well demolished from any nature enthusiest point of view. I like it up north too, just not into the extra weather. Sound great up in the UP too if you can handle all that winter.

Seen few grows in the local paper raided around here, starting to think they are not mm friendly in the s.w. part of the state...really like the Jackson area n wished I moved there...found my rental on Craigslist

I think that whole NW MI scene from Traverse City to Manistee is unbeatable. Lake MI all the way down 22

Much of the U.P. is beautiful untamed wilderness. hasn't been ruined because it's so damn far away. this is where i'll end up, for a while at least. most folks can't handle being that far away from civilization. if i moved to upper michigan i'd want to be near Marquette or Houghton, or anywhere v close to Lake Superior with acreage. some of those spring fed inland lakes are special as well.

UP is really special. Haven't seen the spring fed lakes. That's why I like that Rt 22 corridor of the LP. Lake MI dunes all over. I stay out of Traverse in the summer, though. I don't like bathing in a street-full of people. I like the quieter, smaller lake towns in the summer.

If a few people like you made it up here, it would certainly be a better place.

We moved down by Escanaba cuz it's a fraction of the snow, but my mind is made up - if we stay in Michigan, we will have a place up by Lake Superior and one in SE Michigan. Dan K planted that Lapeer County seed again. lapeer county has got to be one of the most under-rated counties in the state.

All of you guys are awesome in my opinion, love coming on here to chit-chat and just read what you guys have to say.Iam trying to get my old lady to move as far up north as I can this summer.I want a couple acres backed up to some state land,so when us and the kids and the dog want to go exploring or hiking it will just be miles and miles of forest.I keep trying to talk my kids into it by telling them how cool it will be and all the forts and stuff their friends can do up their, ahhhhhhh cant wait.
