Mudballs alternate germination method-pre inoculating

I've been tinkering with pre inoculation for about a 2 weeks and I found something that worked so I'm going to document it and you can all draw your own conclusions.

Please do not post in this thread. Click here to go to the discussion thread and any pertinent information will be moved to this Grow Journal.

What is pre inoculation:
Inoculation may be defined as the process of adding effective bacteria to the host plant seed before planting. The purpose of inoculation is to make sure that there is enough of the correct type of bacteria present in the soil so that a successful bacterial symbiosis is established.

Step one: Ingredients

1 Tblsp of mycorrhizal (any brand)
1.5 cups of water
2 Jiffy pots
1 Tbsp Corn syrup
1 Kitchen blender
1 container (preferably tupperware)

Step Two: Prep and Blender
Tear the Jiffy pots into small pieces and put them into the blender along with the water, myco, and syrup. Blend until you have all the Jiffy pot pieces turned into a slurry.

Step Three: Making the Mudballs
Take your cup-o-slurry to the sink and get your seed.
Gather a small amount of the slurry on your fingers along with the seed.
Begin gently pressing and rolling the slurry and the seed together between your fingers to form a nice round ball that uniformly coats the seed. It can be slightly off center but it is also easy to re-position the seed and keep trying to get it perfectly centered in the mudball.
The syrup acts as the binder and the ball should hold together but you do not want to crush it or split it apart. Just continue pressing some of the water out and forming the ball until it holds itself together.
You've just made your very own pre inoculated marijuana seed mudball. You can prep as many as you like or as many as you plan on germinating. In the image below I have dried a number of mudballs to test whether or not they will still germinate after re-wetting. That remains to be tested and will be updated later in this journal. DO NOT use hot air to dry them it kills the myco for certain. Just lay them out somewhere with circulating air.
NOTE: The slurry is only good for 48 hrs.
And your results may vary significantly but after 3 days I had two seeds popping through the coating which I feel is safe to say it split probably on day two.
As for the myco survival and whatnot I'm not sure about all that just yet. It will be going into soil that has had myco added to it. This is just something that has bugged me for a while and since I have an extremely large amount of spare time and active imagination I wanted to try it. But hey it works so that's cool, right?

the very first mudball to germinate has broken soil and there was no remnants of the casing so that's a very promising sign.
out of 24 that were inoculated 14 germed but they were nothing special from an unknown indica dominate in flower i pollinated on purpose.will let the remaining sit to germ or rot don't care really. i'm running out of pots for seedlings :) good problem to have i guess. will pick strongest and discard the weaklings.i can't buy a new light right now.

F.A.Q.

Q. Can I just keep the slurry and add myco when I want to coat more seeds?
A. Yes certainly. The company I spoke to said that once myco is put in solution it's only good for another 48 hrs. But that doesn't mean you can't just add fresh myco and roll more mudballs.

Q. Is this for fixing nitrogen into the soil?
A. No it's just based on what people do in the agriculture world to help nitrogen fixing plants perform better. Myco just helps plants use more of the nutrients in the soil.

4 days later and they're showing staggered limb spacing, ready for flowering. flipped last night.

stem shot

i discarded 3 runts and at this point i would feel safe saying there is a limit for the myco in the mudballs. the 10 still going germinated in the mudballs within 7 days from day of making them. the runts were extremely late germs and i feel safe saying no myco survived to inoculate past 7 days. so if you're a soil grower this might be worth a try, looks good to go to me.
