the problem is now getting worse...she is turning into a real mutant...i found this list of questions someone posted to help determine the cause...please review and offer any assistance that you possible could...im really torn on if i should pull her from the tent and get another seedling in there or if i should stick with her and see what happens

ive seen similar wrinkling like this before on small seedlings but it was only one the edge of one leaf and the plant soon grew out of it...i believe that was a nirvana ak-48 seedling

thank you for your time

How long has this problem been going on?

About a week now the top cone looking like thing has been there. Just the past 2 days the bottom part of the plant is now getting all deformed.

Are you growing in a PVC grow tent? (example: Hydrohut or any other non brand tents)

Yes. It is a "Lighthouse Hydro" 4x2x4 tent. Ive used it before and have grown 4 other strains in it successfully.

What system are you running? (DWC? Ebb flow? Aero? Water Farm? Flood Tables? and so on...)

It is a hybrid recirculating system...its not really DWC cuz i dont put the water level up past about half bucket point...its not really areo cuz its low pressure misters...and of course there are bubbles...more pics of the actual setup at this link.

What STRAIN are you growing?

the mutant is ice cream by paradise...the other 2 big ones in the tent are white berry and sensi star...the small lady in the back is pandora autoflower...all by paradise and the other 3 seem fine

What was the establishing technique? (Were the seed or clone?)

seeds

What is the age of your plants?

3 weeks from seed, 2.5 weeks from being under light, 2 weeks from being in the tent, 1.5 weeks from having a light feeding of sugar daddy and root 66, 1 day from having a light feeding of bc boost, bc grow, thrive alive b1 red, magical, and sugar daddy

How long have they been in there mixture they are in now?(coco, soiless etc..)

they were started in rockwool cubes and the same cubes are buried in the hydroton

How tall are the plants?

shes only a couple of inches..the others are about twice her height

What PHASE are the plants in? (seedling, vegetative or flower) are the plants in?

late seedling/early veg...more early veg

What Technique are you using?

eventually im going to scrog but that is moot

What substrate/medium are you using?(Hydroton, RockWool etc.)

rockwool starter cubes buried in hydroton

What is the Water temperature?

fluctuates around 64-68 deg F

What color are your roots? White? Brown? Are your roots slimy?

roots are white with out slime

What Nutrient's are you using?(If growing soiless)

25% strength technafloras recipe for success kit vegetative stage...444 ppm

How much of each nutrient are you using with how much water? *Knowing the brand is very helpful*

the res is 17 gallons volume, i put it:
bc boost: 13 tsp
bc grow: 7 tsp
b-1 red: 3 tsp
magical: 3 tsp
sugardaddy: 9 tsp

i put the bc boost in first like the directions said

How often are you feeding? (If using soiless)

constant 24/7 recirculation always tricking down roots

How often are you giving nutrients? (If using soiless)

always..unless im changing the res

What is the TDS/EC/PPM you are using

444 pm my tap water comes out at 110 ppm

What is the pH of the "Tank"?

at last check it was 5.9 ish

How often are you testing your pH/PPM/EC/TDS?

right now about twice a day...when things are looking good its usually once every other day or so

Are you sure your calibration is correct on your equipment?

equipment is about 2 years old...i recal once a week...my tds recal solution is the same age as the meter...my pH cal 4.1 and 7.0 are about 6 months old

How often do you clean your system: example: Flush out water replace with clean water and nutrients?

so far i went from plain tap, to the "transplanting" stage, to the "vegetative" stage of the recipe in 3 weeks...so 3 in 3 weeks

What size bulb are you using?

400 w MH

How old is the bulbs you are using?

bought it in 2/11

What is the distance to the canopy?

about 15"

What is your RH Factor(Relative Humidity)?

34%

What is the canopy temperature?

68 deg F at night, up to 90 deg F under lights...average 88 deg F

What is the current Air Flow? (cfm etc.)

POS 6" inline duct fan from home depot wired up to a lamp cord

Tell us about your ventilation, intake exhaust and when its running and not running ?

the exhaust fan sits on top of the tent...there is a duct to the light and the fan sucks the air out of the tent, across the light, and into the room the tent is in...there is an a/c in the room set at 64 deg F...i do not have a vacuum as the tent has some problems with it...i need to work on that before they start to stink...the exhaust fan is on a timer with the light..but my tent is so leaky right now that the outside air still finds its way in

Is the fan blowing directly at plants?

no...i have a circulation fan on the left side of the tent blowing at the light...it bounces off the light and creates some wind for the plants...this fan is on 24/7

Is your water HARD or SOFT?

i would consider it on the softer side of hardness

What water are you using? Reverse Osmosis (RO)? Tap? Bottled? Well water? Distilled? Mineral Water?

tap

If using tap water, what is the ppm/EC/TDS of the water right out of the tap?

around 105-110 ppm

Has plant been recently pruned, cloned off of or pinched

no...i was thinking of topping the cone off her...im glad i didnt...but i really wanna know is should i pop another seed and get another plant in there instead of this mutant!?!?

like i said all comments, suggestions, and advice is welcome..thanks

this is a hard one the leaves put me in mind of over watering, its possible its getting to wet. i have a strain that cant have say an nft system because the roots are always wet. so you may want to try a timer on your pump, play around with the times. its not a bad thing for your roots to dry a bit just dont let the plant wilt. do you have a bubble stone? but thats my 2 cents. have a growtastic day

bump! anyone?!??!?
HOLY SHIT DUDE!!!! The first thing I thought when i saw your post was. Yah, Bet there is not a question on how long this guy has been growing. I was going to stop reading at the first two sentences and type that. But then I continued to read and found there was a lot of good info there. Sure wish it was in a better order though.
There was one thing I did notice. Your Calibration solution for your PH pen is 2 years old. You should never trust any solution that old. It gets contaminated or might just degrade. Your PH could be out by as much as a full 2 points, if not more. As in you want to feed at 5.8 and you might be feeding at 7.8. Suck up the cost and buy another $9 bottle of Calibration solution. I would splurge, and buy both the 4.0 and the 7.0 solution.

wow!!! I understand your trying to be very detailed, and i commend your efforts! but most people on here are not gonna sit down and read threw all that, shorten it up a bit and you will get more responses...saying that....i did read threw your post and i cant come up with any reason why it would be growing like that except for maybe your temps from night to day is a pretty big change....but take my advice with a grain of salt, im not a hydro grower

I agree with your calibration solution but doubt that is the problem since you are calibrating all plants with this meter and the others are doing fine. I have had experiences with mutant/retard plants and to be honest I have never found a true cause or reason for it. Most of them snap out of it and grow normally. I had a super silver which grew straight retarded for like 4 weeks, I didn't change anything because I didn't know what the problem was and now it's the second biggest out of 8. Sooo I'd just watch and wait for a few weeks personally.

This person does have a good point here. But i would get new Calibration solution. You could be way out of range.

But if you look close at that plant. it looks like someone did some cross breeding with a Mary Jane plant and Brussel Sprouts. Maybe sprinkle a little melted cheese on top and see what that does. :-P

It`s just a random mutation.I`ve had more than I can mention over the years.Although, one mutation turned out to be quite a keeper. It may or may not be worth growing out.I generally rip em out instead of wasting time and space on something that likely won`t do well.

thanks for the insight guys...i tried posting something about it in my grow journal and on another site n didnt get shit for replies...so i figured maybe i wasnt giving enough info before...but whatev, ill keep it in mind

i know i have to get new cal solution...ive been putting it off forever now...lol...i think my pH meter may be a little off because my tap water readings arent as consistent as they used to be but the tds meter has always performed very consistently and even the cal solution has remained stable when i use it...but they are all certainly outdated

she seems to be growing out of it...check it out...you can still see her cone but all the growth around the cone has exploded...these were taken 2 nights ago...im due for a res change, my pH has creeped up to 6.1 on me

thanks again guys
