I did the same math and came to the same conclusion. Either we're both geniuses or we're both idiots, but at least we'll be in good company, lol

Honestly SupraSPL is the one I got this idea from, it was all his posts and math that lead me to choose that set up lol. I just dove into leds and electronics...2-3weeks of reading. Ive finally got the knowledge to do my own set ups lol... currently waiting on my 3590's from china....very excited to build it! If you have any pics of grows on that setup id love to see them

You're actually further along than I am. I've found someone to collaborate with, but I have yet to order anything.

Got the dimmer working today can dim from 33%~144w to 100%~600w. I had one of my dim wires backwards which when all dim - from all drivers were tied together it would basically read 0v across the dim circuit. Hahaha dumb mistake. I gotta say I'm super impressed with these leds. Now just need to get my grow up and running. Want to do a side by side with 3 4x4 tents. One with the led one with a 600w hps and one with a thouie. See how they all compare. Will probably be my first grow with this baby.

How many amps does your lamp run, when ran at 100 percent? Absolutely amazing build, that is a piece of art.

5.2 at full blast. It's stupid bright. Definitely puts off some heat. More from the led surface than from the heatsink. The one thing that bothers me is she is heavy. But I think in a 5x5 area should be able to compete with a thouie just based off lux readings. It's the same amount of lux as the 1000 but much better even spread across the 5x5

I think you just built the commercial version of diy led!!!! If it does a 5x5 you did. Im no led brain by any means, but if that covers 5x5 with 600 watts thats masterful. Its a money saver in many ways. Fuck you guys never stop amazing!!!!

Thanks! I've put a lot of research and time into building this light. I am now addicted to building them. I'm looking into building another one a little more powerful then this one and another for veg as well. Want to replace 3k in hps and 600w of MH with 2k watts total of led and hopefully out produce it. Should save tons in cooling and bulb changes and 1kwh per hour of use. Gotta keep the bills down keep margins tight. Soon it won't be worth 2k an lb and if I can produce at a lower cost I will still be doing this for a while lol.

How heavy do you think your light is. I'm wanting to make one like this too. I've made a few smaller 150w for my veg tents and small cab grows but I want to make one to replace my 1000w hps too.

I would say it's a good 50lbs+ I had 4 Mars 2 700w and it's lighter then 4 those and covers the same area. It's difficult for me to hang it by myself. I would weigh it but I'm pretty lazy today. Maybe I'll throw it on the bathroom scale tomorrow after work and give you the #s. Now you have me curious lol

Haha ok cool thanks, my big air cooled hood is heavy too so I'm wondering how much it weighs compared to what I already have.

Looking forward to that side by side hopefully it will be unbiased and every tent treated equally curious though you mention it draws 5.2 amps at full power is this 600 watts
and a normal 600 HPS draws 5 Amps so your going to see a increase in your power bill a little

600 hps draws more then 5 A

Happy to see you've come around to the correct way of assessing the value and results of a COB light. Looks pretty sweet, no? And the biggest improvement over the thouie is the spread, you're going to have equal intensity spread over the majority of the canopy, as opposed to one big hot spot and diminishing PAR from there.
