4th node i topped it, then topped again because i didnt want it to outgrow the 105w of cfl its under right now. I also trimmed all the lower nodes that arn't going to turn into anything. Now i got new nodes all over the place, the lst is real good it lets all the nodes on the side get some vertical growth, and those are some nice plants. And when i topped the first time my 2 backup tops growing at the 3rd node almost took over lol. Nice plants btw what week is it in flower in flower im guessing at around 4-5?

Yeah it's 4 wks i defoliated when i flipped i'm trying to get it to form 4 solid colas top to bottom. I've been using lst on several plants particurly in the tent where i have height issues.

Stus,
From your experience, how has the defoliation affected the transition from veg into 12/12? Did you notice tho growth slow down for a bit afterwards or nah?
I'm thinking about doing some defoliation with the water today. Doing so go's against 90% of the advice that I've read in regards to pruning the leaves. 90% saying 9/10 Ive read no to remove them. Basically because the leaves are the solar panels yadayada....But I'm wondering about an excess of leaves? I've got some leaves along the bottom of the plants dying off, just a couple here and there, but either way they weren't getting adequate enough light and we're pretty much laying on the bed of the soil.
I'm thinking I'm gonna go in today for some maintenance and just veg a little longer.
Any thoughts out there?

In regards to the leaves being like solar panels....I've got an excess of leaves in all directions pretty much, so I don't feel like taking a few more off here and there would tank the op. Lets hope not lol.

Pfff...I wanna flower already...But a wise man once told me that this would test my patience haha!
I'm looking for the even canopy of colas courtesy of LST. :joint:

Well, with CFL's the solar panels on the bottom of the plant aren't doing much for you, and as much as I tell people not to prune, its also a sort of 'at your own discretion' in my grow I've chopped up the bottom leaves towards the end figure to redirect some of the plants efforts to more important places.
My advice would be to trim it with VERY clean tools and cut nice and close.

Sincerely,

Below is an excerpt frrom my journal that kinda explains my thought.

I plan on continuing my current grow (10 Ladies 3 wks into flower) I'll have at least 90 days to settle the estate so i should be good. I'm 3 1/2 wks into flower. On my 1st grow i stuck pretty close to the teachings of "Uncle Ben" https://www.rollitup.org/advanced-marijuana-cultivation/267989-uncle-bens-gardening-tweeks-pointers.html who gives advice on another forum. He believes in no trimming or defoliation to produce more yield (I pulled 6 1/2 oz first grow w/3 plants this way). This grow I decided to follow the "Cheap Old Basterd's" advice http://forum.grasscity.com/indoor-marijuana-growing/972868-old-school-grow-advice-member-cheap-old-basterd-club-215.html#post15544047 and thin the herd. I've followed an aggressive high N fert schedule and all the plants are super healthy so i felt they could benefit from the increased light penetration/air circulation. The girls in the tent were also topped to level the canopy and reduce height026.JPG023.JPG021.JPG.
Posted by SGI...Re: Old school grow advice "member cheap old basterd club"

You could deffinately benifit from some thinning out.

So what I look at is the leaf and branch node.
Every leaf base produces a branch.
When a branch is 10-12" long, it already has leaves of it's own.
At that point, the original leaf on that node, has served its purpose and is in the shadows now.
That leaf can go and all the main stalk leaves below it can also go.

For branches I use a 12" standard. So I don't touch the top foot of any branch.
Under that foot all main node leaves can go.

My last stripping is just that, a stripping.
I remove all leaves without at least some trichomes(crystal) on them at 2 weeks before harvest.
This gets light into the canopy and help you get all the bud possible.
This can be argued by some, but It works for me well.

 • Anyway so far so good. You can see the progress of the 4 cola (1st pic above 1/1/13) compared to the photos i posted a little while ago i think it's recovered well. I haven't taken any leaves since the initial trim. SGI (The Cheap old basterd) suggest trimming any leaf without dust on it 2 wks before harvest. I dunno we'll see...looking at his photos on the thread his yields are impressive.

So DT,

I pretty much did what you said. I went in for a "down low n close" on each of the big three.
Basically I got rid of anything that was both weak(looking and stemmed), and anything that was in a position where it wouldn't be getting good light.
I didn't take off much tho. Just what I felt like I HAD TO! NOTHING MORE!
Thanks for the input brother.
Like I said, I'm gonna veg. a bit longer so that they have adequate time to heal.
I also untied everything for the night, and gave part one water of my two part watering.
Ive been watering on two separate occasions as I've heard the plants adore it that way, and so far so good.
I split a one gallon AACT that I make the night before between the three of them, and then I go over them with a half gallon of water each about an 45 mins to an hour later.
I mixed up 1/2tsp kelp meal, 1/2tsp liquid fish, 4tbsp EWCS, and 1tsp molasses and bubbled it for about 18hrs with a 10gal fish tank pump.
This is the first time I've added molasses to the mix so I went light, but I heard Mary hearts it.
The last tea I made i introduced Hi-P bat guano, so I skipped it for this time. But basically when you make an AACT, its like making your own bottled nutes, but you're feeding your soil, which feeds your plant...It's hard to burn plants using organics, but it can happen I say.

You asked a while back about my watering scheme and it's been pretty much the same. I've gone 5 days in between the last two waterings, and the plants we're droopy and soft* prior to watering, which obviously meant they were thirsty, therefore I'll have to water every 3-4 days from here on out, as the roots are absorbing the water faster. Also gonna top dress my soil with EWCs :joint: Great help DT

Apparently I gotta spread some rep around before I can hit you again Stus, but that was great advice bro. EVERYONE that ever sees this will benefit from that info!
Seems like I made a good decision none the less tho! Keep me posted on your progress lad. Maybe I'll be able to hit you back with that rep soon that later.
I'm interested in the differences that you find tho. Thanks bro :joint:

Never had Stacked Kush, but I read that it's Kush crossed with a high yielder called Sleestack haha! I figure ANYTHING Kush is the standard!
And I never had LA Woman, but I've had LA Confidential in Holland, and whenever you saw it, it was atop the coffeeshop lists as far as potency and price!
That chemdawg...Pfff I've never had it but both it's parents are studs haha!
And I untied everything for now to give it a chance to heal more. One is almost totally healed, ones got a little healing to do..But they're pulling around bro.

I'm gone pach EVERY 2700K CFL I got in there when I do flower tho haha. Be like over 600 true watts of lighting! YEAHHHH BOYYY(in my flavor flav voice haha)

Gonna be smoking good kid :joint:!

- Wk4 Day1 Veg. 44days from seed.

Nirvana Bubblicious Auto
- Wk4 Day1. 43days from seed.

Did what was somewhat of a minor lollipoping today just to clear out some of the garbage.
Top dressed with EWCs & watered as mentioned before.
Apical stems on both the Blue Widow and the Bubblicious have been broken(accidentally) while LSTing.
Not sure I broke them or pulled them apart exactly, but I noticed it about a little less than week ago.
The stem of the Blue Widow is almost fully healed but the Bubblicious stem still has some mending to do, but it's mending nevertheless.
I also think the Bubblicious is trying to flower because it's getting kinda busy in the middle of the flower sites, but I've stunted it so much that I think I've hurt the yield somewhat. We'll see. It doesn't really smell tho..
Smell overall was a little more evident today. White Widow is more musky but kinda like a honeysuckle subtly. Blue Widow smells of sweet blue lol but kinda rubber-like too. Good tho. And the Bubblicious smells really like nothing. Only from touching to you get a smell.

That's another week for me tho!
I would say the new lights did the job in lengthening the plants out some for sure. Also thickening them up.
I'm gonna veg until I can't stand it..Let them plants heal up, and let the budsites that you guys can't really see, catch up to the canopy.
There's SERIOUSLY A TON of good flower sites on these plants. They're all over! F.I.M has done me VERY WELL I'd say.
The next gen will get the early topping!

Signing out. :joint:

Haha, you're welcome to it :) Those girls look great! This talk of stunting them is ridiculous! Those are some crazy tight nodes, and the bush is exactly what you want. She's probably trying to flower cause of the HPS providing so much red spectrum and it getting late in her years.
Besides, I think its almost time son!
Lets get this pron party started! (I need something to cheer me up, still no luck with any germinating, gonna try again this week sometime, hope is not lost)

Fold you a paper towel up, wet it just enough to the where it's wet all over, but not dripping really, put it in a ziplock and blow air in before you seal it, then let it be for two days somewhere cool and dark.
i haven't failed yet this way bro. It could be hard water or something like that prob :joint:

*edit And I wanted them to remain even stumpier than they are haha. I'm just letting them breath a little bit so those stems can get it together haha. Hopefully they don't grow upwards too much in the next day or two
