My 1st time grow, Questions and Suggestions?

i had a shit load of weed at my house so i was looking through it and saw some seeds so i got 11 of them and then germinated them for about 3 days. (8 are done, 3 still have not sprouted) I dug one foot into the ground and got some very good soil and then planted one seed each in Styrofoam cup. Yesterday I mixed miracle grow blue powder with water and slowly poured the mixture into each cup and this is the result. I am using one 60 watt light the the area of my grow space is about 1 foot x 1 foot (very little) but once I transplant the plants the grow space will be larger. Also about the miracle grow it said to use it once every 2 weeks. These pictures were taken today after almost 3 days of growing.

I am completly new to all this.

My questions are
1. When do I need to transpant them into a bigger flower pot, and how do I do that?
2. Am I doing anything wrong?

what would you suggest for light, another 60 watt?

-thanks

Umm... What kind of light are you using?

Also, as for the transplanting, I would carefully cut down the side of the cup keeping the plant upright... Full a 1-2 gallon pot up to 3 inches deep. Place the dirt and plant (all) in the middle on top, and then surround that with more dirt. When the stem is tougher, you can turn the pot upside down and shake a little and it will all come loose. That's for other future transplants after the first.

sorry for double postings but I am having a problem and I need to correct something.

The plants are 4 inches tall not 5.

Are my plants looking good for being 5 days old? I ask because I was looking at the gallery here of peoples :leaf: plants at there plants at a week old they already had alot of leaf's on them and they were huge, but my plants only have 4 small leaf's on them.

Here are some pics

okay thank you all for your very fast input

I just changed the bulb not even 2 mins ago to a CFL, I also moved the plants 2 inches closer to the light bulb too now. Hopefully this helps.....

What watt cfl?
And how much closer?.

These are very important factors,
Too close you could burn them, too far away will only result in further stretching.
As Far as cfl lighting and spectrum, you want 6500k kelvin for seedling and veg( high wattage the better)

And for flowering you want 2700k along with the 6500k ( again higher wattage is much better)
for flowering you want a ratio of 1/2 for every 1 6500k light, you want 2 2700

hope this helps a little

sorry for the delay.
I moved my grow area to my closet now and I have added another light and also a fan.

I have 1 CFL 14 watt (i know its the only CFL i have, ill buy a bigger wattage this weekend) and 1 regular 60 watt light bulb.

With the new light and the fan, the plants quit stretching and the flowers are now getting bigger!

okay I took your advice plus did many more things

I transplanted all 6 plants into milk jugs cut almost in half
I put gardening soil around the stem of the plant up to 1/2 inch were the leaves start
I added 2 new lights and changed all the bulbs to some new bulbs which have 770 lumens per bulb

When you transplant next i would put it into potting soil from a hydro store or nursery. get the organic kind with no added time release fertilizers unless you arent planning on adding nutes
