sicc, i always thought the pollen changes from generation to generation carrying a different gene pool along with it.

I thought the same thing but on another site i asked the same kinda of question and i was told it basically the same

You guys should buy and read Greg Green's Breeder's Bible. All of this is explained in detail within.

This is a HUGE area here, and you really need to educate yourself on the subject if you want anything better than random offspring from a cross you make. I have read it cover to cover twice and I definitely don't know it all, but I do however have a decent foundation of understanding to work on.

FYI - Greg Green's Grower's Bible is great too, if you have questions on growing as well as breeding.

i heard bubba kush was a clone only strain? does this mean it wont make seeds? or the seeds will be infertile?

Yea Bubba Kush itself is clone only, but people still cross things into it

so if i cross it with this bagseed male i got she will not produce any seeds?? im not exactly sure what clone only means

if i mix a male and female...pollinate female and save some pollen. i could sprout a given number of seeds...choose the best female then use stored pollen with same results as if i were to breed a male and female from the same generation?

i think clone only strains are dank cutting taken from a plant in a breeding project. the elite clone only strains are probably that clone only because the parents have been discarded or they are just very rare phenotypes in a cross. there are breeders outperforming elite clone only strains.. i recently tried querkle and it tastes better than just about any other purple strain i ever had. i wish i would have got querkle instead of gdp now lol..

so you are saying they can make seeds but the seeds wont be true to the strain?
in other words, a clone only strain can only be cloned for the strain to hold true?

Yes. "Clone only" strains are simply killer phenotypes of any given strain where there is no corresponding male of the same strain to breed with to make seeds. ALL cannabis plants will produce seeds if fertilized, the only question is what will the offspring be like? To continue any one particular strain/pheno you have to be able to have true-breeding cultivars for both male and female if you want to be able to produce seeds that will in turn produce an exact genetic copy of their parents. Otherwise, when one of the two breeding parents (cultivars) is missing, you can only take clones from the female or pollinate more females with the male to influence the offspring with the male's genetics.

Basically, the true-breeding male is missing. To introduce a different male would change the genetic makeup of the offspring, and therefore change the phenotype.

yea mastergen, dang, 200 a mth for 2200 wts seems pretty cheap, must run everthing at night in the winter. You sure got some quality genetics. If I had those, id cross the shorelinevs:herijuana with the CXBA Keep bredding homes. aevia, If you breed out those f1,s there will be more variety to choose from, a little less variety with backcross. Also, whats the bag seed strain? Knowing that would definetely help with expected phenotypes. Depends what you looking for, I would have clear goals of what I'm trying to achieve.

you know i wish i had the bagseed strain name. i have no idea. i dont have anyway of getting male pollen. no one has seeded weed anymore. have any ideas other than ordering seeds online? i could hermie a plant and use pollen from her but this would introduce hermie traights correct?

ive been thinking about using male pollen crossed with one other strain of mine (bubba kush, super silver haze, and jack the ripper) im thinking of using bubba kush because she is dominant indica and bagseed male appears to be dominant indica although i will not know until recessive genes are shown correct? do you agree with me so far? or should i try breeding with others who are dominant sativa.

after i get some seeds i will then choose a male that is most like the bubba kush (or other strain if chosen) and start having a goal at that point.

I love it when people ask "What strain was the bagseed?". lol Why would we refer to it as 'bagseed' if we knew what strain it was??
