hey man, cant believe your plants are going nuts! as winkdogg said its probably just because they always put the measurements pretty high....watch the leaves and when they start going a more limey colour that typically means they want nitrogen...

this is the only technique i ever use its great! my rule of thumb is 1/8 kind bud or 1/4 regs per stick of butter/margarin (butter always better but not needed):) then follow the instructions on the brownie mix/ cake mix box! i just grind the weed up really well before i add it (almost to a powder) then just leave it in the butter...i always use a whole stick per brownie box even when it asks for 2/3 cup just makes them extra creamy!!! yum yum

some times simple is best! i tell people this method all the time never heard a complaint!! just remember it could take an hour to kick in so be easy on the first few :)

great recipe thanks for spreading the word!!

I just thought I'd share a recipe I was given today. My mom mentioned that her friend at work bragged about cooking the BEST butter brownies, and so I had her get me that recipe. Here is what I was given:

Butter

1/2 cup butter (not margarine)
Melt in a saucepan and bring to a bubbling roll. Add a couple of handfulls of plant matter and let simmer x 1/2hour (Watch it, it can burn easily) *Very Fragrant*
[Unfortunately that is not very specific on exactly how much weed is required. I'm going to ask for clarification.]
Mash plant matter into butter & then remove. (You could strain it if you want.)

Choose a brownie or muffin mix that requires oil in the mixture but add what it calls for from your butter[instead.] (Maybe an extra Tablespoon for good measure!)
*The effects take about 1 Hour to be felt!*

Enjoy!!! "1" is enough to start

I have so many unhealthy looking plants and I have no idea what to do. I think the nutrients I am using are probably no good for cannabis cultivation. I am using Dutch Nutrient Formula 2 part solution. I also think that maybe my issue are a result of improper PH within my water, but I do not own a meter so I can't test it to be sure. From what I can gather the majority of the plants seem to be showing Nitrogen deficiencies. I could be wrong in my diagnosis though. I am thinking that perhaps my best plan of action is to flush out the plants and start over. I am afraid though that if I am to flush a plant that is already possibly deficient I may cause even more of an issue. All the of the tops of the plants look healthy it is only the bottom leaves that are showing signs of issues. Should I trim the leaves off or allow them to stay. Please anyone who has input I 'd like to know what you are thinking. I have read all I can find to read but to read is one thing. To know how to act upon everything you've read without any of the actual experience is a whole other game.

PLEASE HELP:wall:
That my friend is most certainly Nitrogen deficiency by turning that color, with a tad of calcium deficiency note the spotted areas

I have spent the last couple of days ignoring the plants. Letting them get good and dried out in preparation for today's flush. The plants seemed to like this. They were showing signs of good health which made me very happy and more enthusiastic about the flushing process.

I was trying to figure out what to do about pH testing when it hit me. I OWN A POOL. God damn am I an idiot. I spent 2 minutes looking through the pool supplies and wouldn't you know it. I stumbled across a pH test kit as well as a giant bucket of pH up and a smaller but still large bucket of pH down. Now the only thing that was missing was the distilled water. It came in 4L jugs and the grocery store only charged $0.99/jug. I stocked up assuming that I would need a great deal for a proper flush.

Each plant was given a deep deep soaking in the tub today with the distilled water. They pissed out a disgusting yellow looking water that confirmed all of the over feeding hypotheses. I made sure to continue to drown them until the water flooding out looked as clear as possible. Once they were done flushing I trimmed off all the leaves that were looking dead. After the flushing the plants were all returned to the cab where they shall hopefully begin to prosper once again.

I have decided that since the grocery store is so close to my house and the distilled water is so inexpensive I will be using only distilled water from here on out. I am going to only feed once every week and I will be using a weaker solution than the one recommended by the bottle.

Thank you everyone for your input. Hopefully this flush will be just the thing my babies need to get going strong again. I have lots of branches that are looking fit for cloning. The LST in working wonders for filling out the bottom of the plants. I will hopefully begin cloning shortly. I need to setup a separate area for that to take place in. Once I can flower the first set of clones I will know the girls from the boys. After the girls have shown their faces it will be time to kick things into high gear. I will be taking clones whenever the opportunity arises and I will be starting anyone and everyone who looks ready for flowering as soon as possible.

Keep in touch. Things should start to get real interesting around here very shortly. I will post some new pics soon. Right now I am feeling far too lazy to go snap some pics. I'll give the flush a day or two to set in and then go camera crazy.

might want to double check using ph up/down from a pool im pretty sure they use different stuff than ponds/aquariums....just make sure nothing is toxic i guess!!

I decided against using the pH down from the pool. The distilled water tested at 6.8. I was also sort've fearing the toxicity of the pool chemicals so I decided that 6.8 was acceptable and went ahead with just the distilled water. When I apply the fertilizers to the distilled water it looks like the pH ends up slightly below that. I am wondering though if, because I am using distilled water with virtually no dissolved minerals, I will soon see a problem regarding deficiencies related to the minor nutes such as the Magnesiums and the Calciums which would normally be provided by the water. Either way though this new water will definitely be better than my tap water which I tested in the pH kit and got a reading of about 7.4 7.5ish. WAY too high for the chemical reactions that need to take place int he water in order for the nutrients to be readily available in the soil.

my tap water has been a pretty steady provides usually hangs around 6.9 but it has been around 7.5 before but the plants seem to like it ! when i start new babies i use the distilled though..:0

Day 50
Temp: 25.6'C
RH: 38%

It has been roughly 36 hours since the flush. I must say I am very impressed with its apparent effectiveness. They are looking greener and much healthier with all of the dying leaves trimmed off, and so far there are no signs of the problems getting worse. Every plant, aside from the little dwarf that I have lost all faith in, is showing signs of good healthy growth. The combination of LST training and a reduction in lighting to 18/6 has caused explosive growth. I have to raise the lights or bend the plants almost daily to keep things under control. It is becoming a fair bit of work to keep up with the plants, but it is a labour of love. I am beginning to see an urgent need for the flowering room to be setup. I need to cut some clones and determine who my females are or else I will start to run out of space. Hopefully my partner will come up with the $$ soooooooon. My broke ass has put every penny I had left into this.

Every plant got a turn on the camera today. I am done talking now. Enjoy the plethera of photos as well as the return to healthy growth. I know I'm grinning from ear to ear. My confidence is back and I feel like I have learned a very valuable lesson in watering and feeding.

The first couple of weeks were very unproductive for growth. I had temperatures of 18'C at max and tiny little dixie cups doing a great job restricting the roots. The plants barely grew. It wasn't until around the mid 2nd week or third week that I got that taken care of. The only thing I am waiting on is cloning to determine sex. I will hopefully be cutting clones sometime mid week but I will be fairly busy with school. I will be flipping all of the Trainwrecks but one, which will act as a mother for now, into flower after the clones take root which if all goes well should be roughly a week from thursday. I am still waiting on my 400W ballast(s). We want to run 2 since we have lots of plants and 2 bulbs but we can only afford 1 right now and we can barely afford the 1 as it is. I will wait until after I am 100% sure on sex before thinking about flipping any of the AKs or Ices since they did not come from Fem seeds. I will still keep a close eye on the Trainwrecks to make sure that no males or hermies ended up in the batch. Apparently fem seeds have a higher hermie possibility.

Hey, looking really good there man! Plants are lookin soo good. That flush really did help eh? Hopefully I won't have to resort to that but if need be, I know who to call! :P

Lets hope it doesn't get to the point where you need to flush. I am glad to know that it is an effective option though. I will be very careful from here on out to make sure it doesn't happen again.

I went on a shopping spree yesterday. I purchased a whole bunch of stuff for the room. The list includes, 2 42W 65K CFLs, 6" Inline fan, Activated Carbon, J-Cloths, 6" Stretch ducting, Humidity dome, 1" Rock wool cubes, 5gal grow bags, and a bail of Promix.

Exhaust: I am going to see if I can get away with using a homemade activated carbon filter. I made a couple of these: https://www.rollitup.org/grow-room-design-setup/63004-my-3-carbon-filter.html and then rigged them into some 6" duct with a small inline fan pulling the air through the filters. I am not very pleased with the amount of air the fan is able to move. I am going to get something bigger soon. I don't want to get too loud though.

Cloning: I took my first set of clones today, 11 in total. Every plant that looked like it was willing to give up a couple branches did so. I have 6 Trainwreck clones donated from 4 different plants as well as 2 Ice clones from 2 different potential mothers and also have 3 AK clones from 2 different plants. I used rootech cloning gel and 1" rock wool cubes. I placed the cubes into the humidity dome and hung a 26W 65K with reflector above the dome. Do you guys think I should maybe hang a 42W above it instead or will the 26W be ok? It is hanging very close to the dome and is able to light up the entire dome. I am hoping my first attempt at cloning goes well. I think I've done everything right. I made 45 degree cuts, and sliced off the 2 branches that were right above the cuts to expose more plant. Then I immediately dipped them into the cloning gel and transfered to the rock wool. All the plants got a good spray down with distilled water before the dome got sealed. I also made sure to give the dome a good soak down.

daaaaamn homie looks good, keep it up i can't wait to start cloning. you should definitely try some ONA solution with some sorb crystals instead of the carbon, should free up alot of CFM. me and skybike picked some up on friday and its been working wonders for the smell

My lighting fixtures are called clamp lamps. They are sold at any hardware store. They come with a reflector and a clamp that I stripped off. Cost about $10-12. Then you purchase the y-shaped adapter also found in the electrical department of any well stocked hardware store. The y-adapter, if I remember correctly, cost $3.50.
