My first 150hps closet grow!

So i have been snooping around these forums for a while now and decided i should make my own journal. My set up is a 150hps running 12/12 in a 2x2x5 box with a intake and exhaust. I also have 2 8'' fans for air circulation. The temp runs 80ish(not the best thermometer). I have 2 girls in there currently, great white shark that vegged for 8 weeks, and cheese plant that has been vegging for 7 weeks(she got topped). This is the first day of flower. I am using a soil-less mix, fox farm nutrients, 6.3ph water and just kicked the ppm up to 720ish. Im not sure what happen with the great white shark, but early in the vegging it like she stopped growing for like 2 weeks till i flushed her, growth then again continued(witch is why she is smaller then the cheese). Now this is my first grow so any tips or pointer would be appreciated.bongsmilie

Not a bad effort for your first grow mate :) nice work!

The leaves curling down on the cheeses a sign of to much nitrogen and over watering. Could also be why the white shark stopped growing, from my experience with the strain it likes to dry out completely before the next watering. How often are you watering? 720ppm doesn't sound excessive so I'd say it may be over watering....

Thank you! I water around every 3 days or till the pot is light and been using half of what the fox farm chart recomend ever other water . Maybe its time I flush her?

Hmm that's odd hey, sounds to me like you're doing it right. I don't have any experience with fox farm nutes unfortunately so couldn't say how strong they are compared to other brands. Might be worth a try to flush and leave for a few days then try a lighter nute mix to see if that works. The weird thing for me is, the white shark doesn't look affected by it..maybe the cheese justdoesnt like the nutes as much. You may end up having to water them separately with different nute mixes till it solves itself...hope this helps mate :)

i think a combination of too large a pot (takes too long to fully dry out = over watering) and too high temperatures my have caused the stunting, i would say your nutrients aren't to blame.

they will enjoy the cooler temps with the light only running for 12 hours now, try to run them at night and you should see further improvements

Thanks for the input guys! When the plant had the problem it was in a 2 gallon pot, I then transplanted and flushed. I thought I did a good job waiting for it to dry out before water, but I still noob so who knows. Also I never noticed any leaves curl up like it was heat stressed, but like I said I'm a Noob. But yes running the light at night has dropped the temp a few degrees. I'll make sure to keep the ac on more aswell.

So I gave my roonmate the shark to put in his box so i can focus on the cheese. But question is how much water should i use to flush a 3.5gallon bucket?

So this is day 8 of flower for the cheese. i flushed her on the 13th with 2.5 gallons of water and bushmaster sledge hammer, then on the 17th i fed her half of the nuts that fox farm recommends. She grew quite a bit overnight and when i got home from work today she was touching the light and got a tiny little burn on some leafs. other then the end of the leafs curling down at the very tips (i'm thinking to much nitrogen from what i have read) i think she is looking good. On the 12th i started a sweet seed's auto green poison that i got as a bonus when i ordered my seeds, and have her under 24/0 92w cfls. Also today i got my water pump in the mail, so i built a diy aeroponic cloner and put some cheese and great white shark clones into it(took some cuttings when they were in veg and stored in fridge for a week). Here is some pictures!

Again any input is welcome!

These were taken on the 25th (day 15). i moved the ppms up to 1200 for the cheese. The cheese is starting to get a lot of white hairs, witch means buds are on the way! from what i can tell her and the poison(the last picture) are looking healthy. I also replaced my old crappy inline fan from homedepot with a nice inline fan, and now able to keep the temp right around 80. tomorrow i will be adding my diy c02 generator to the tent, and then hopefully next paycheck i can get a humidifier! oh man i can not wait for her to finish

Looking damn tasty mate, some good bud development on them for the amount of light you got :D

Have you considered (for future grows) trying out a scrog? It would get a lot more light into the middle branches :) even just topping and training can get a good canopy!

Actually yes, im actually gathering the supplies right now for a dwc scrog grow! i would have a screen in there now but i got to remake tent door so i can still take it out and water and what not. But if you can see from the poison, i have been learning to train. Next round will be train wreck from greenhouse!
