my first cfl grow

not sure what the white spots on the lower leaves are, but they dont seem to be growing, or affecting overall plant health, so not too worried about them. have checked extensively for bugs of any sort and haven't found any.

at this point there's 3 23W (100w equiv.) CFLs at 2700k. going to add 3 'Y' adapters and increase to 6 of the 23W 2700k CFLs. should be doing that this week

also have a flourescent ballast that i'm looking for a 2700k tube for. going to add that behind the plants for extra side light whenever i find a bulb for it.
 
Going to be ordering a couple more seeds from marijuana-seeds-canada.com . one will be Blue Cheese from Big Buddha Seeds, the other will be U-pink Kush from Dr. Underground. Both Fem. Has anyone had experiences with the U-Pink Kush?
 
No thoughts on either strain? Ordering in a couple hours. Would really like to hear if anyone has experience with either of these strains..
 
c99 is much stronger than hindu kush.

they also have orge kush which is bubba kush x master kush, but that has skunk in it. c99 doesnt (like your blue cheese) so run it!

sensi seeds has purple haze, n.l. haze silver haze, kali haze, white haze, x haze etc. which they charge top dollar for. g13 labs stole their purple haze genetic and they sell it for much cheaper. check it out!

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but if I read your journal correctly, then you have been vegging under strictly a weak red spectrum light (3500K). 2700K (strong red) is correct for flowering only but 3500K doesn't help too much with anything. You want to veg under blue light => 6500K. Hope this helps. :wink:

You read correctly, and I'm aware of this. It may be the reason for my slow growth. The 3500k bulbs were the highest 'k' rating available at local hardware store. Supplementing with a 'cool while' floor tube as well until I can swap to 6500k bulbs
 
just got back from the hardware store, still no 6500k bulbs, but i was able to get some 'Y'adaptors and 3 more 23W (100W equiv.) 2700k CFLs for flower tent, which will put the tent up to 6 23W 2700k CFLsIMG_20130625_155115.jpg


will add pics later when tent comes on and i put these bulbs in.


I hate waiting for the lights to come on...
 
the color temperature really doesnt matter that much, all the bulbs burn the same color temp (full secptrum) and then the coating changes the "color"

That's good to know. I know it's not 100% critical, otherwise they wouldn't be growing at all lol

Yes, the fluoros burn the same spectrum (uncoated) but you couldn't be more wrong when you say that "the color temp really doesn't matter that much". That's just flat out wrong.

The specific wavelengths of light (color temps) that are emitted beyond the coatings are absolutely critical to the different stages of plant development.

Shorter wavelengths (blue... higher Kelvin temps) will greatly benefit the vegetative phase, while the longer wavelengths (red... lower Kelvin temps) will absolutely retard vegetative growth.

That's just a basic 101 fact in growing. Absolute fact.
 
OK update time: looking like one of the bagseeds is female, I see a very small hair beginning. Will attempt to get a picture soon, but may be too small.
 
very nice, looks like youve fed them recently. now keep them watered properly until theyre hungry again.

yea, i fed them some 25-10-10 orchid fert from Plant-Prod. those pics were about 2 days ago, it was about 5 days ago that i fed them.

the one on the left (V3 i think.. will confirm later) has shown sex, and she's a female :) gonna try to get good pics tonight. tried last night but couldnt see anything in them, so didnt bother
