My first grow, 30 days to go, yellowing dying leaves

Hello all, these are some bagseeds I started 12/1/2010
I put them into flower on 12/28/2010 they have been flowering for approx 30 days now and the Cola's are huge and the ladies are about 3' tall now (4 of them). "Big Momma" is the biggest of all 4 and has many many branches with several colas. Yesterday I noticed 5 yellow leaves on big momma, I left them on and today they were dying leaves. Today I removed the yellow leaves. all the rest of the plant is still looking great. Is my plant getting close to the end of it's life cycle? is that why the leaves are turning yellow and crisping up? They were all just on "big momma" the other 3 plants are looking great but far smaller, all were started at the same time, but may be different strains.

Any help, or suggestions would be great. Oh ph is at 5.8 ebb/flood 12/12 HPS 1000w plants are approx 20-24" away from light. any ?'s ask away I check RIU Several times a day.

Do you have any pics? Yes some leaves will turn yellow and start to die off during the end of flowering. I have always experienced this. when a leave turns yellow, just give it a little tug, if it comes off easy, toss it. If it is a little hard to pull off, then leave it on untill it comes off easy. But without pics, its hard to say for sure man. And the best way to determine when a bud is ready, is to use a pocket microscope (radio shack $12) and look at the tricomes. When 50%-70% are amber, chop chop time.

50-70% amber?! you're killing your thc levels homey

yea some leaves die during most grows. optimally you can keep as much of the plant as alive as possible until harvest day, but i've always lost at least a few leaves i never intended upon. then again, i'm a noob. but my shit's still chronic, so, take it or leave it

What nukes are you using and in what? Soil it sounds like? When you change your nukes over to flower the nitrogen goes down. Thats what the N in NPK means. The best thing I have read is shoots, roots, and fruits. N for shoots, P for roots and K for fruits. Thats why you see the N go down and the P go up in flower nukes. So now that you know that the yellow leaves is a sign of N deficiency, but like dopeedogg said its hard to say without pics. It is normal for the plant to have yellow leaves at the end of its cycle however if your only 30 days in I would say its a little early to have a lot. A few is ok. Again everything is a guess without pics. Hope this helps!!!!

50 % is not going to kill you thc level. The more white/milky the tricomes are, it's more of a head high, while the more amber tricomes produce a body couch lock high. yes, if you flower too long and all the tricombs turn amberish, thc will start to decreace a little but the cbd levels will increase. I like a 50/50 ratio of amber and white. Yes i grow chronic also. I donate my meds to the local medical dispensary here in cali and I usually get reimbursed very nice. They have my meds on Fire shelf going for $55/8th donation.

not saying your shit's not chronic, all i'm saying is amber trichromes are a degradation of cannabinoids. but that's for another thread. glad you making money, glad we're all getting high. personally i'd go for mostly cloudy just before the amber comes on. anything else is a fake body high when you could just grow a high cbd strain to begin with.

Yeah it all depends on personal prefference. U could clip a few buds early, clip a few more a few days later and then finally chop more a few more days after that. That way you will have buds at different harvesting times, hopefully with different tricome levels. Then see which gives you the best effect for you

What trichomes???

I don't see many crystals on those plants.

I think you're confused on where to check. You don't look at the pistils, you look at the trichomes on the actual flowers.

Everything looks good to me. Were there a few leaves with yellow dots on em? Also the last pic is not N deficency, looks more like something else. With how dence she is are you getting good air flow through it? All and all the plant looks good and its clear you still have 4-6 weeks to go. Thats when the little buds will get nice and frosty!!!

ah, thank you. Figured they had more time, at least 4 more weeks. I'll be watching the tricoms I want just cloudy, we dont care for couch lock.
My taxes will be in soon so I can get a new camera. looking at the sony cybershot w350. Get some good pictures then.

The Botnicare nutes are great, I could likely go 2 weeks without adding / changing nutes just adding water, but I dont. Only drawback has been with my Veg area I use drippers, and since it is organic occasionally a dripper will clog. I just pop on a new dripper and blow out the clogged one with some co2 from my tank or air from my compressor. Then that dripper is ready to go in place of the next clogged dripper. I check them sometimes twice a day sometimes not for a day or 2. For hydroponics this setup I'm using is Super Low maintenance. I changed my reservoirs today (every sunday) and add like 5 gallons of water every wed-thurs.

8 Days or less for my direct deposit return now ahahahaha!!
I may move my GR to another area, if I do I'll be buying more than a new camera lol.. Was thinking about swapping out my floro's for a metal halide but eh, the floro is dooing good and costs way less.

haha Off topic but I just took my kodak v1253 Camera apart and cleaned it and re-assembled it and Bam! Working better than new, no really better than new. Zoom no longer whines, and it powers on EVERY time, and the digital image stabilization actually works now..
Dunno what I did, but eh maybe get another few years outta it. At least a few harvests lol..
