the light is one thing I am still trying to perfect, i am going to go pick up some of those adjustable hanging things, the name escapes me right now lol. As of right now I would say the light is about 3-4 ft away from the top of the plant..... i know i know i need to fix that!

I just wanted to take a poll from all you enthusiasts out there

i have been getting extremely mixed reviews on this topic, i have a bunch of people that are telling me since i have a 400w hps to just leave my light cycle at 24/0 and then when im rdy to flower go 12/12. Then there are the people that tell me 18/6, both sides have very valid arguments but i am leaning toward the 24/0.
Any input is welcome thanks all!

and god damn 420 your outdoor plants from your sig look insane!!

nice and simple i like. lol.. on the lighting topic>>> i think you should put it on 24/0.. or to give lean way to the critics you could put it on 20/4. i say this just out of assumption that becuz you are vegging with an HPS light your plants will get spindily and stretchy.. plants like to stretch at night and grow foliage during the day (again making assumptions from little observations) so in saying that i figure this will reduce the stretching a little bit by providing more light. and i believe with a 400watt you dont want to have the light any higher then 18inches.. i have a 400watt and i was told no more then 18 inches for the 400 (could be 12inches actually) and no more then 24inches for a 1000watt.

the light cycle comment could be useless but you should move those plants closer to the light. try to get some CFLs in there or something if you want on the sides of the plants. you want to be vegging with a 6000k plus spectrum, my 400watt MH bulb is 7200k spectrum (very blue light for veg.) and my flower bulb is 3200k spectrum (very red) dono what my HPS bulbs are, but obv. even more red then the MH flower bulb. MH for Veg. and HPS for flower... purchased a MH flower bulb only becuz it was the only ballast i was running at the time, now ive upgraded ALOT. got a light mover and everything.

ya i was reading and came across the 20/4 light argument and i liked it. I took a sort of unique approach to this grow, for the first week they were 24/0 and about 3.5ft from the light, i didnt want to stress them. The second week was 17/7 lighting cuz i had someone staying at my place. Then another week of 24/0. now for the past 1.5 weeks its been 20/4. Each week I moved the plant closer and closer to the light, because being older it can be stressed more. Now its sitting about 18 inches from the light looking pretty as ever. I have been LST the whole entire process so its super bushy

The other plant is a chemdawg, its about 2 weeks younger than the purple kush

switching the light cycle so many times can def. stress it out and stunt growth when they are young aswell but ya i just measured and i have eight 8" clones all vegging under the 400watt MH at around a foot away each.. but you are right about the beginning you def. dont want them too close. this is where CFL lights come in handy for veg. you would save electricity, be able to use more lights, and have them closer to ur plants, literally inches away.. also which give you way better veg. growth, a blue spectrum helps leaves and stems grow where as the red spectrum helps mimic the fall season and does wonders for bud growth.

so i dont understand by ur pics, are these vegging outside while the sun is out and then put inside when the sun is down to complete the 18 hours of light? or did you just decide to take some pics outside cuz it was nice? lol n e ways keep em green, peace.

18/6 all the way man! Personal opinion, I think it gives your plants time to thicken & rest. I don't think any plant has 24 hour daylight programmed in its genetics. But the only lighting scheduling that matters is 12/12! 600w perfect for a 4plant dwc hydro setup. Monster plants! Check my posts..I use 600w 5th week flowering now

it has been about 5.5 weeks in veg, and im probably going to let it veg for about another 4 weeks.
I just take the plants outside to take pics, but everything is done indoors gibbs lol.
I am off the 24/0, i stopped that a couple weeks ago and moved to 20/4 to let them rest a bit.
thanks raw! hopefully this will be a purple ass plant, its stinks already pretty bad lol
