My First Grow: Journal

I hear you about your problem with not enough space between nodes. Bring the light up about 6 inches for 2-3 days and that's all they need to stretch a little. Lower the light when you want them to slow in height again. You can pretty much control a plants growth based on light intensity.

Pretty much this is true.

I am a first time grower also. Going to make a journal later. Might try the foil pan thing til Home Depot restocks their mylar. Gonna have to turn the fan up a few notches I guess. I might put white paper on the inside (bottom, right side up) to avoid too much of a hot spot when turned into a roof (upside down) to reflect the lumens, but then i'm thinkin fire hazard... so I might not even do it at all. Peace

Day 26. A quick update on my grow. First, my foil reflector was causing burn holes in my leaves. I covered the surface with white reflective heat resistant plastic. It holding up well with no melting and is doing a better job of reflecting the light. Have a little heat stress on plants as well. Moved my lights up again today to about 10 inches. This should help with the heat and give my plants a little more stretch, which I think they need. I also removed all my plastic in my grow room to give it more breathing to help stem the heat. Rooms at about 80 degrees right now, and it hasn't been that cool since getting my new lights. I haven't seen a gnat in about week so I think I might have solved that problem. Plants have grown well and are about 8 inches tall.

ACE is the place! LOL looking good bro sorry to hear about the hot spots caused by your reflector.
Pfft! Ace is the place where youo get skeeter the high school drop out to help with all your horticulture needs, except he doesnt know shit lol. There are not that many hot spots, I was looking for them. So let it be said to all those cfl growers out there that say you cant burn plants with foil: BULLSHIT!

Sorry Ack, I dont lst my plants. But there was a guy who posted his box on your log and thought he had a great lst! And box and plants were outstanding. He use this plastic shelving/table to run the colas thru it. I thought it was a fantastic idea.

Learned a couple of days ago that the NL AF take about 5 weeks to veg before flowering. They should comeplete flowering in 5 to 7 weeks. They should be about as big as a normal size NL (maybe a little smaller). So I guess AF doesnt mean lowryder. Hopefully I will get the same about bud as normal plant as well (although I think it will be about half as much).

That is weird cus I veged mine for 35 days before flowering and my tallest one stretched to 3 ft so far. So be ready for some three foot plants cryp! And I topped three of them and fimed the other three so it would have been taller if I didn't top it. If i were you I would make sure you have enough side lighting also bro cus I think you are going ot have some monsters looking how bushy yours are.

Yea, I think your right. Three feet sounds about right. I have two more lights sets that I will use the for the sides when the plants get higher. These NL are suppose to be small plants. I thought that meant they stay under three feet? I saw your plants and leaves have some ice on them. They look like legit pot plants now thats for sure lol.

Yeah they are supposed to be short and fat, but you also have to remember that we got our seeds from Nirvana so we are unsure of the genetics. Not that it is a bad sighn! Go to attitude and get some #1 NL fem and you will pay 250.00 so I will stick with Nirvana for around 30 bones!! LOL Can't wait for your shit to kick into flowering! Maybe next time get some regular beans fem or some low rider's. If you get the regular ones you have more controll when to flower. Can't wait to see your plants with some fat ass nuggs on there.

I think that frost on my buds is from the FF ferts! Beastie Bloomz!!!

thanks for the heads up man. i grow in a pc case so height is deff an issue. i do have some bushmaster made by Advanced nutrients. used it in my last grow and it worked well to kick start her into flower once i saw hairs and to stop verticle growth.

later man

Day 29. I had some issue with my plants. The bottom leaves had necrotic spots and even noticed some tears in a couple of leaves. I've made several changes to my grow room, and when you change things it can make it hard to pinpoint the problem. So here was the list of things that could have caused the problem: heat stress, dense plant and lower leaves not getting light, gnats, ph lockout, nute burn, or some micronutrient deficiency. I moved the lights up and that has cured the heat stress. The plants stretched two inches in two days and the leaves are getting more light. Ph is about 7.0 which is a little high but should not cause lockout. I flushed both plants so that should cure any possible nute burn. I havent seen any gnats in over a week so I dont think that will be a factor going forward. I did add some molassis to the final flush to help w/ Iron, calcium, and mag micro nutes and to help promote micro bacteria to grow. Also added some epsom salt (mag sulfate). I think this is the problem. Learned today that MG soil does not have mag or calcuim. Signs of mag def. are: leave "praying to the light", necrotic spoting, and leave tearing. Plant are doing much better today and seemed to be making a full recovery. Might still need to add some more mag but think the plants are doing well.

Day 35. Lots has happen. My ph meter broke I could not measure the ph problem. No funds to buy anthing to fix all the nute lock out. Plant was getting worse by the day, so I repotted both plants about two to three days ago. I've lost about 30% of leaves on the bottom. Since repotting the plants they have not grown at all. I think they might have revegged on me too. I've got twisted leave tips on one plant. One plant has not really yellowed in 24 hrs so maybe its turning the corner. The other plant is still yellowing although at a slower pace. Not sure these plants are going to make it. If they revegged on me, then they are pretty much worthless even if they do survive. I think I will leave them for about a week and see what happens. I will start to foliar feed tonight in hopes of getting the plants some nutes. Bummer.

sorry to hear man. just give them water for a few days. and see what happens. a few days of flushing should help out with the salt build up.
