My first grow: questions

Oh, also I have noticed people saying that CFL's in 6500k spectrum are best for vegging and 2700k is good for flowering. I have "cool white" lights in 4100k currently for veg. Is this spectrum sufficient for the veg cycle?

i'd go with the 6500k more light penetration for vegging ;)
So it has better light penetration qualities? Good to know. Problem is, I can't seem to find any in that spectrum:cuss:

Do you think these 4100k's will be good enough to keep the plant alive and thriving? Hopefully I will find some 6500k's soon.

4100k will do its a little more ballanced between veg and flowering light. It leans more towords veg

Sweet. I didn't want to have to start from scratch with another huge lightbulb bill for the right spectrum. So if they're in between veg and flowering, I should be able to use them alone for veg and along with 2700k's on 12/12 for flowering? I'm new at this, so I just want to make sure I am understanding correctly.

yes you can use them with 2,700k CFLs for flowering. most people like to do 1 to 1 or 2 to 1 and some perfer 3 to 1

2 2,700K and 1 4,100K CFL

right on. I plan on having them moved to a closet for flowering, so I hope that is enough room. thanks for the advice

UPDATE!!!

My plants have been growing great and I just wanted to update anyone interested in my first grow. These are the exact same plants that are in the pictures on page 1 of this thread. BIG difference eh?! I'm pretty proud of how great they've grown so far! Let me know what you think, or if you have any suggestions. Cheers!:bigjoint:

I have a quick question about male plants.... Do male plants contain as much / less THC as females? I have a male plant and I'm wondering if it's worth making hash / baking brownies / making tea with it? Will you even ctach a buzz? If anyone knows, please feel free to comment. cheers.

male plants usaly contain less THC. Males are only good for collecting pollen to use for breading
So when the plant is ready to pollenate, you can just take the sacs and save them for future breeding? How can you tell when the pollen is ready to collect?
