My First Grow...White Widow x Big bud

Hello...My name is jbleezy. I have always wanted to grow but have never had the time or ability. I recently took a hiatus from work and now find myself with the time I need. I did quite a bit of research before I started and really don't have many questions, but merely wanted to document my progress and get some imput along the way.

Seeds:
I Purchased some seeds from Buyseedz.com. I decided on a White Widow x Big Bud cross. I bought a couple seeds from them and it took approximately 12 days to get to me. Pretty good considering some of the other ship times I have read.

Equipment:
So, first off, my budget is extremely limited, but I feel that I have all of the major components and will be getting the rest of the items I need along the way.
Old armoire converted to a grow box
1 gallon pots x 2
6 26watt CFL bulbs hung down and around the plants
Fox Farms Ocean Forest soil/nutrients
3 4"walmart fans
Flat white paint

I started my seeds germinating in the paper towel method. After reading quite a bit about germination, I decided to go this route as I had a friend experience great success germinating this way. My seeds went into the highly saturated paper towels and into a ziplock bag on Sunday August 5. 24hrs. later August 6th, both of the seeds I germinated produced little stems. I decided to plant even though the stems were not very long. I presoaked my soil the day I started germinating, Sunday. Once planted, I placed the pots directly under my CFL setup. My little ladies sprouted by Tuesday morning August 6th. I had bonafide cotyledons by Wednesday morning August 7th. So far my girls(positive mental projection lol) have been steadily growing for just over a week. I plan on posting some pics so that you can see my progress. My only issue so far is heat. My cabinet temp sits in the high 80's to low 90's. I have read that this is practically unacceptable as it comes to growing, but I have not seen any issues thus far, so if you are commenting on my heat issues, save it, I know. Plant "l"

Both seem to be doing very well. They are the same seeds or so I was told and yet they both have different characteristics. Plant "r" seems to be shorter and stouter with slightly broader leaves. However, plant "l" seems to be a tad taller and leaner and the leaves are spread out a bit more instead of being close together. Both are sturdy and lush looking. Both are approximately 3" tall give or take on either plant. I water every third day or so and use about 3/4's of a bottled water(Nestle Pure Life). I plan on starting nutes towards the end of the month as I have heard that Fox Farms tends to be a little much(nutrients wise) for new seedlings starting out.

why dont you just drill some holes and get some 4 inch inline fan for ventalation

it will keep you heat down to what ever your intake is so a litte above your room temp in your case. not expencive plants cant grow well at that high of heat if you give them c02 it will help them bare the heat i would just go with a inline fan though

The problem is the set up is in my garage as wife wont allow it inside. I'm in FL. So my temp is practically impossible to get below. Upper 80's. I will drill a few more vent holes in the top with the others...otherwise they appear to be happy and growing sturdy. Thank you for the advice!!

When you have 2 seeds sometimes they will take on the trait of one there crossed with and another might do the other trait,also it might be a male and female.

So..."l" is doing great!! She is lean and mean with good coloring tight node intervals. Overall looking healthy compared to my research for plants at this stage grown with CFL's.

"r" is doing fantastic also. She is slightly shorter than her sister, but bushier. Like her sister her stem is sturdy. Overall good coloring and leaf structure.

My temps are still high, but it does not seem to be making a difference with the ladies as they both continue to grow healthily. I do have a couple of odd looking flying/running little brown bugs. They do not seem to e harming my ladies, but there are two or three of them( I kill them as I see them). I am not too worried yet as I have done some reading and feel like I need a little more time before I can properly classify the bug. My next phase of things is to figure out when/if I need to start my nutrients. As I stated above, I am using FFOF and realize that there are plenty of nutrients in the soil already. I am heading out of town next weekend which will be the end of my 3rd week. I believe that I should start small amounts around the time of my return. I plan on vegging them for about 5 weeks total. That will take me into the first week of Sept. Feel free to come on this journey with me and read and roll, or post if you have any input. Thanks all!!

The bugs are most likely gnats from the ffof. dry out the soil good it helped me.

Ok so here is another update with photos of the girls. They both seem to be doing fine just funny how the same seed supposedly produces two differently traited plants. Plant "l" my lean mean machine has started to fill out a little more and still growing great. Plant "r" my bushy baby is still growing strong but staying short. Their coloration seems to be on target and they have two sets of alternating nodes. The nodes are tight with practically no stretching. My temps have come down slightly and sit between 89-92. At first when doing research I did not believe it possible to grow at the temps I am growing, but my ladies do not seem to be bothered by it in the least. Just as a point to all noobs out there, do your research and then give it a shot. The circumstances are always different and anything is possible. Ok, enough from me, here are the photos.
This is plant "r". She is approximately 4.25" tall. She has been in soil for 2 weeks 2 days.

This is plant "l". She was the late bloomer of the two, but took off after popping the soil. She is approximately 5" in height. She is also 2 weeks 2 days in soil.

Weeds have this miraculous ability to adapt to w/e conditions they are grown in. though there is an "ideal" condition but you can get good buds in temps like that. Besides when it is time to flower it will have cooled down! That's when stress matters!
