My first grow

Day 43 of flower. The taller one (Juarez) is 2-3 weeks older than the shorter one (Ms. Grapefruit). Juarez is a bag seed and ms grapefruit is none other than heavy grapefruit.

Fox farm ocean forest so it’s mostly organic except for me experimenting with synthetic fertilizers. I got confused as to what I should be doing. I was feeding the plant when I should’ve been feeding the soil. So after I almost killed them for the second time I top fed with worm castings and dr earth flower girl and ever since I’ve been watering with non ph water. I get filtered water from a dispenser at the gas station which comes out to 7.1. Ask me anything. Tell me anything.

I think after this I will go into coco coir because I do not like the unpredictability of living soil.

I started them with an HLG 65 and then purchased a 135w 288R Kit from HLG 2-3 weeks into flower fearing the underpowered 63w light would produce insufficient buds.

Don't give up on living soil yet.

Don't give up on living soil yet.
Pros:

Just water
Buds might be tastier and greener
It’s......sustainable?

Cons:

Can’t tell if I have to ph
Needs a larger pot size for more available nutrients
Plants take longer to recover
Slower growth
Bugs
Smell
Having your own compost
Having to “cook” soil

Awesome job for a first grow! I love doing the organic super soil type thing outside with my vegetable garden, and when I lived out in the middle of nowhere and could grow a sativa forest, but once I tried coco, that's all I use indoors. You've got the fundamental grow skills down now, so I think you'll love what coco can do for you-just easier to manage feeding/watering, more reliable, easier to replicate results, that sort of thing. My roots just seem to grow more, faster, in coco, so you can fill up your medium and not worry about overwatering. Nothing against soil though, I do appreciate the 100% organic soil buds that people grow, respect.
