My first growing attempt

This is my first attempt to grow some plants (not counting the time i germinated some seeds freshman year and didnt know anything)

They're just bagseeds from what was going around DFW under the name "popcorn" (i think that's the batch they came from).

This is really just a trial run, i ordered a feminized mix that should arrive someday, so if and when i start growing those i'll have some necessary experience.

They have been under 400w MH bulb for 4 weeks.

I started out with like 25 plants in jiffy pot-like containers, and then transplanted the best 20 looking of those to 4 inch terra cotta pots, and after about 3 weeks i transplanted the 9 best of those 20 plants to black, 5-gallon nursery pots. (I have a 10th nursery pot, but i just got some rockwool plugs and 4"x4" blocks, and i wanted to see how well a younger plant, ~2-4 week old, does when set to flower when i decide to flower the other 9, and also to get some experience with the rockwool)

These are my 9 kids

Mom and Dad are the biggest , mom having the most leaf sets, and although ashley is the smallest, the shoots coming out of the lowest node of ashley are the most developed... i'm a little confused, but not worried.

I worry that they're a little short, but they're growing sturdy, so i'm hoping it'll just help out with heavier buds later, but yeah, the tallest is about 5-6 inches, and i want them to be at least 16" before i flower, and then pray for 5 or more females.

I havent added any nutes since before i watered at transplant last weekend (2/22-since i read not to feed at transplant), but i plan on feeding with a higher-N feed when i resume feeding when the soil dries out more, maybe tomorrow.

I welcome any advice or observations that anyone might have.

Clay? You want them to be girls right? I think its funny when people name their plants... mine are called Exile #1, 2, 3, 4 &5

Well, being that they're just bagseed, and my first crop, i figured it'd be easy if i just associate each plant with someone i know, none of which live within 200 miles

plus, i've taken statistics, i know odds are i will have less than half females (especially with the possibility of herms)

oh, and this is my last kid, sam... and if i know sam, he's totally going to be a herm.

I wasnt being a dick, I talk to random animals and play music for my plants. People think Im nuts. Id just get confused naming them human names.. I just say "hello my girls... you look beautiful today!" I just name them the strain and then how ever many I have I give a number. Good Luck man. Lots of love does work I hear.. mine sure come out great

Also, the batch being called "popcorn" prolly was describing the fact that they were little lower buds... were they?
no, it was just called popcorn... sort of a mid-grade quality. I saw some other posts online about others being sold the same "popcorn" weed in DFW.

I've found that when a dealer tells you the name of a strain they have, it's all just BS that someone down the line decided to label their bud with as so to garner a better price for sale...

I'm from texas... the land of mexican shwag, so for me, it all smokes...

Ahhhhhh... where Im from usually its what the person tells you it is.. these strains fetch top-dollar. Plus, youd immediately know if it wasnt... I can identify sour d with my eyes closed easily and others. Last few years its been the sour d everywhere for me!

everything still looking good, clay has quickly become my tallest at a bit over 12", but Mom is still the largest by volume and stem girth and is just under 12" and ashley is still my shortest at about 6"

i guess i have to do these 2 at a time again, this time, a top and a side shot for each plant...

this is clay...
