It looks like you may be overwatering them. I did it initially when I started growing in rockwool. I ended up watering 2x daily, but I was in RW exclusively (no hydroton).

It does look like overwatering. The bottoms there look like burn. If you provide some more info with the nutes you are using and your watering times people will better be able to help

I was using a 12.2/2.8/10 nute mix but after I saw mute burn I quickly flushed and now am just running clean ph'd water till I get my ppm meter, I'm also watering 6 times a day for 5 mins at a time, I'm also using 40x40mm RW in hydroton
Cheers 4 the replys

They just called grow, and it's a 2 part mix, I Got them from a proper hydro shop so they are good I just either used too much or overwatered I guess, would you recommend cutting the waterings down?
Cheers

I dont run ebb and flo but 6 times a day seems a bit high from what I recall researching it (If the res isn't aerated). Someone else should chime in and help this guy out.

hi birdie, i run the same setup u have :) and had the same problems...and u have a slight nute burn..
1- u need a PPM meter and a PH meter.
2- start with distilled water(0 PPM) and fix its PH(5.2-6.2 range)
3- only feed distilled water (15min/hr for top feeder or 3-4 times/day for ebb&flow) till ur plant is looking healthy again..takes about 4-6 days
4- then add ur nutes gradually in a step increase (100ppm,150ppm,200ppm,250ppm,etc) 50 ppm step.
5- flush ur plants(for 1 day) every 3-4 weeks with only distilled water to free up salt buildups.
6- keep temp and humedity at around 28C/30-50%
7- ossilating fan is a must
8- feeding fresh air is very important
9- make sure u have enough lights and not too much
10-keep an eye on ur PH DAILY.

My reservoir is airated;), also i have a small inline fan running into the closet along with a 200mm exhaust at the top going into the roof, would it benefit me to add a small oscilating fan? And these are under a 400w hps light :)

They look fairly small and don’t need too much water at this point, especially if they are shocked. Slow down watering a bit.. I'd say no more than 2-3 times a day until a majority of the roots are out of the rockwool. By the look of the rocks (no build up) they have not been in them long and the roots are mostly in the rockwool. If so 1 water a day until that rockwool starts to dry out..

Just my 2 cents!!!

When it comes to how often you flood there are quite a few conditions to keep in mind.

Here's a flood calculator, but you must read everything carefully before plugging numbers in. Nobody really "gets" this calculator on the first try.

Expect the results of how often you flood to be a lot less than you may expect.

But it works amazingly well....but again you have to be fairly accurate with the information you provide.

I agree with N!pples above - I'd cut watering to 2 or 3 times a day. IF overwatering is your issue (and I think it is), you should see improvement in a day. I watered my plants 7X / day when I first used RW, and they looked just like yours until I cut back to 2x. Not discounting the idea that it could be a bit of burn, just going off of my own experience in RW...

Ok guys well i have cut the watering back to 4 times a day a 6HR intervals, the pump is on for 5mins which just touches the bottom of the rockwool cube. Will post back once i see improvement, i just checked them before and they havent perked back up yet. (It hasnt been a day yet lol i check these babies way too often haha cant help myself :).
Once again thanks everyone for the great knowledge :p
