My Grow Journal

this is my grow journal. it is my first grow really, so i may need some help but i will be giving updates on a daily basis and i will post some pics. here is my basic set up. i have five cfl lights four are daylight spectrum and one is bright white. i have two computer fans set up one at the top of my closet for the intake with some air holes,there right next to a window so good clean fresh air is getting sucked into the grow room. and the other one on the ground facing out the closet as the exhaust i started these five plants about five days ago and they sprouted two days ago.... so we shall see how it goes...... happy growing

ok so here are some updated pics of the babies. i transplanted four out of five of the plants, and i am trying to figure out a new spot to hang the lights so there more on top of the plants. I am also trying to figure out new spots for my fans to bring in as much new clean air and exhaust all the hot old air out. tell me what you guys think and if you have any ideas on how the set up should be rearranged thank you happy growing all

They look good man. Oh by the way all the rest were females. So i now have 6 females. plus my 2 bigger ones. Ur plants are only about 2 weeks old right? Oh and the computer fans look good. I see you decided not to plant them together...good choice. lol

right on im glad you got a bunch of females in the batch..... ya i'm hoping that they start to grow a little fatser now that there in there new pots. do you think those pot would be good to keep them in until the end or will i have to get bigger pots????? cause if i have to get bigger pots i might have to ditch like two plants for space issues. what do you think???

ok so i dont have a lot of room in my closet that i am growing. i have been trying to keep the lights right on top of my plants but now that they are in bigger pots the lights aren't right on top of the plant anymore.... if i added more lights would that make up for there not being light right on top of the plants...... i know it is a little bit confusing but i hope some understands what i am trying to say...

Well that all depends man. How big you plan on makin them before you start flowering them? those pots would be sufficient for a plant about 2-3ft tall. after that it might start gettin a little crowded. Thats my opinion. I always like things..."better safe than sorry." but ultimately its all up to you my friend. I put my prettiest female in a pot by herself just an hour ago. Shes under 9 cfls all by herself. That should be good for her. "Kiana" is movin back to 18-6, hopefully she'll make a good mother in the near future. As for the other 5 young females, there under the HPS, along with my step-child. The other step-child now has christmas orndaments hanging from it in front of my door. lol Tis the season. lol It was a goner.

hey i have a system like that but its been about 7 weeks since i started and my plants are about 8-9 inches tall and not bushy just stem and a few eaves at the top any suggestions

First off, welcome to RIU, there's a ton of information to be had here. I try to take this approach. It's one big ongoing experiment. By the time your grow is complete, if you're like most of us...well, you'll see. On to your grow.

Heat rises, your exhaust fan would be better on the outside of your box sucking the air out, and it should be at the top since heat rises. Your intake should be at the bottom.

Light, light and light. Good luck.

One other thing, those holes, when you start flowering, you don't want any light leaks.

Find something to put under your pots to raise them up to the lights.

k here is what i did i switched the big fan outside of the room and over the holes for my exhaust like you said. i put the two computer fans on top of each other as my intake at the bottom of the room. i also added two more lights they are 3000k soft white cfl's to help out with any shaded areas sooo tell me what you think....thanks happy growing

Depending on your temps with the lights on...you do have a thermometer, yes? Your exhaust may be drawing in enough air that you don't need the fans to draw air in and you can use them to lightly blow around, not on, your plants to help strengthen the stems. As they get older you can blow them around pretty good. You don't need a hurricane but good air movement helps keep your plants happy. As for the lights. 3000k is for flowering, when you are vegging you want 6500k.

You are shooting for seventy five with the lights on. Anything above eighty may slow your plants growth, maybe. Above eighty five and they are getting hot, just like you would be.

so i should move the computer fans over the little ones..... i only put two of the soft white just to add a little more light the majority of the lights are 5500k daylight cfls

and also what is the lowest i should let it get in the grow room before i should worry????

Try not to let your temps fall below sixty. In the fifties the plants growth slows.

ya i have to figure something out cause they deff. seem like there growing slow..... should i add some nutrients to them i have a water plant food its called vigore its for tomatoes and it is a 24-8-16 powder to add to my water can its says to use it every 14-28 days..... should i use it??????

Give em a small dose of it. Almost anything for tomatoes is good for MJ. Just dont over feed them and possibly cause nute burn.
