My New Roomates

I went around to my friends and collected there top seeds that they have saved from over time. None of the seeds were labeled. I had a total of 24 that sprouted. July 1 they were put in foxfarm soil and sat under the 1000w MH I managed to get the sprouts moving even under the 1000w. The temps are kept down with an inline fan that blows air past the MH and up into the attic. The fan sucks air from the ac vents and the air that is inside the grow tent. I do not work so I tend to my grow and have plenty of time to keep my eye on them. The setup is to big for my closet or bathroom so I have it setup in my bedroom.
I have reduced the total seedlings to 18 now and weened out the slowest of the slow.

Today the plants are about 28 days old. They are growing really fast. They are sitting 3 feet from the light. The temp in the grow tent is 75. All of the plants are starting there 5th branching level.

33days into the grow. I have lowered the plants now and they are 4 feet from the light. Most of the plants are 9inches tall. They are starting to produce leaves now at the 8th branching level. I have fertilized with Foxfarms Growbig. The current temp is 78, the humidity is at 45.
I haven't noticed any real problems yet. Everything seems to be under control. I did get a Orchid and a Venus fly trap to add to the grow.

I'm wondering, since my temps in my grow room while the lights are on stay around 76. If I should keep the plants at 3ft from the light? I moved the plants from the light now at 4ft. But I have noticed the difference in the plants height already! Should I keep them at 4ft or 3ft? What do you all think?

As close as possible..without burning them.. even side light to grow out inner buds... just check with your hand if too hot...

Bieng its a 1000w in that what appears to be a small enviornment it shouldnt make much of a differance. But as said before the closer the better. Especially when you begin to flower. you seemed to know what your doing but dont forgot how much they will grow when you start to flower and that light probbaly cant get any closer than 24" or it will burn your plants....Looks good though keep up the good work

Lg

I decided to move the plants back closer to the light. My space is 4x4x7 right now. But I'm able to expand the area when needed. I'm also not going to sex them early, I don't want to add any stress to them. Thanks for the tips!

Thats correct. Im using the MH for Veg and HPS for bloom. Plants were given a good supply of water this morning, and I sprayed the undersides of the leaves.

The plants are now a foot tall. I think that I'm noticing the growth slow down, most of the lower leaves have turned yellow and some are showing signs of using too much Fox Farm Grow Big ferts. I believe the main issue is the size of my pots. I'm using round pots that are 6inch by 6inch (1.5QT or1.4L). Im thinking I need to transplant them into larger pots. A trip to mdhydro might be on my list to do tomorrow. I need some recommendations. Thanks guys!

I have transplanted everything into 2 gallon square pots. As I was transplanting from the old smaller pots I noticed plenty of roots that were pot bound. I purchased a Hanna (HI 98129) Combo pH & EC meter. And the solutions to calibrate it. Im a little confused on how to properly use the meter. What is the proper order of testing the solution before I apply it to the garden? Do I pH the water first, then add the nutrients then test again? Then test the ppm? Should the pH be the same when I'm using just water and when I'm using nutrients? Is it necessary to test the ppm when I'm not using any nutrients?
Is the proper ppm somewhere between 800 to 1200?
Is the proper pH somewhere between 6.5 to 8?

hey i checked out your grow so far. Nice job first off. I have never used a ppm meter in a soil grow. I would also be interested to see if there was a way to use it to maximize solution strength when growing in soil. I pretty much now have to feed untill i burn, and on this grow i never reached the nute "burn" level.

As for ph you want to ph your finished solution mix to around 6.5 and water. Test the runoff and make sure it is still in the 6.5 range. If it is not then let me know. Also does your soil have a ph buffer (lime) in it?

Ive replaced my MH for a Hortilux HPS. I topped a couple plants to experiment with height issues. Im using some Fox Farm Big BLoom, and Humbolt Countys Own Bush Master and Advanced Nutr. Bloom Booster.
Im finally getting my pH where it should be, and looking for signs of sex.

Well today Im left with 5 females. I fertilized the other day with foxfarm and bushmaster and noticed some deficiency in the undersides of the leaves and now it is seen through the top of some of the leaves also. Im not sure what it is but I flushed the plants this morning and tested the runoff. Other than that everything seems to be growing strong!

Today were 18 days into flowering. The plants are producing flowers everywhere. Im still dealing with fert burn. I need to go lighter on the bushmaster. I have used any ferts for quite sometime. Ive flushed twice to help clean the roots. And sprayed undersides of leaves with a low ph of just pure water. I added co2 boost bucket but I think it could be a waste? I think my vortex fan sitting on top might pull the co2 out? Anyways heres a few pics:

just give em straight water for a week or two, by which time they should of recovered a bit and used up the excess fert, then start feeding again 1/4 strength working your way back up again slowly

Went from soil to hydro. Yesterday I went ahead and changed my whole system over to the waterfarm 8 pack, But Im only using 5. I was able to clean the roots really well. And Im using the supplied GH nutrients. I also added some "superthrive" and "hygrozyme" This is my first shot at hydro, Im looking for other tips or grow journals where people use this setup.

I feel like the mad scientist with all this stuff I've done to the plants. They seem like there doing alright though. Im guessing I run the pump 24hr even at night.

they look ok mate, still look a bit over ferted. just lower your doses a little. i cant see to clearly but are your lower leaves yellowing with the leaf veins still somewhat green? if so you could have an Mg deficiency. 2-4wks into 12/12 is a classic time for Mg defs to show. they use alot of Mg at this time because of the stretching growth and sudden increase in plant matter.

Yea Ive had issues with yellowing leaves. Some of the top leaves are yellow to. And one plant has lost all its leaves except around the flowers! I burned them pretty good but they had also grown to big for there containers. Going from soil to hydro wasnt easy on them either.
